Any of you heard of the Big *** Light products?
Saw an ad in the Autoweek magazine.
It seems to be from the same company who does the big fans. It's all LEDs.
They do not mentioned the pricing though :-(

Check it out:

And not very bright either. LED replacements for shop lights are the answer to a question nobody asked.

Not as an insult, but I think your math is suspect.

You can't use the percentage of saving the lights will give you off your entire electric bill. That percentage will only apply to the lighting cost of electricity. Eight light fixtures would be a tiny bit of your total consumption compared to your other huge draw items.

the hot water heaters are gas and electric. we use the electric when we run out of gas. we also have about 4 water wells running off the electric bill also as well as a 440v 45hp electric motor for grinding corn

Why do you need to heat hot water? :D 440 is a long obsolete voltage, 480*V is the standard of today. Did you order them from Big *** or another vendor, seems to me that if from Big ***,your paying extra for the name. With LED's it seems to be a wild west & lots of charlatans out there.

*Motors are rated for 460V.

Hoston23 he is giving you ****. You don't actually have "HOT" water heaters, they are water heaters, they make cold water hot. I still don't see how you will be saving enough money to pay for them that quickly, what type of lights are you replacing?

Maybe he's off the grid and has to power them with solar. Or maybe he's planning to be off the grid after the SHTF and the balloon goes up.

A dairy farm off the grid and solely run on solar with multiple large 480v motor loads? :dunno: That must be some solar farm!! And a warehouse size bank of batteries....

I am also from Texas, so we do things a little differently than your CA boys. We can actually own trucks that roll coal. Something that you're not used to seeing.

you should compare the payback time in comparison to other options, you could have potentially had the same savings spending 10x less, which would mean you'll never get your money back.

Funny...when you ask a question..you get answers to questions you didn't ask...I will tell you that I have not had any experience with that brand of LED lights, but I installed Cree LED garage lights and love them. Yes, pricey, but I live in Ohio and in the winter months..I don't have to wait for these guys to warm up..instant on, no buzzing. Good luck with your new lights.

Our dairy farmer friend is also factoring in cost savings from not having to replace the bulbs multiple times per year or deal with broken fixtures.

Seems quite reasonable to me. Why the dogpile? :eyecrazy:

running red diesel in texas. cheaper than normal diesel by about 50 cents or so. plus it doesn't bother us to roll the coal

U can legally use off highway diesel fuel on road? Or youre doing that not caring about the rules?

BTW: In the video, i noticed the smoke on the red truck goes from clear to black while not moving. Did the guy turn up his tuner to do that?

PS: Sorry OP for the thread hi-jack!

im sorry for the thread highjack. but anywho i got all 8 of my lights in. one of them was bad out of the box. there sending me another unit asap. but i got 2 lights hung up in my shop. i have 4 for the shop and this is only 2. the third bay light is going to stay like that because its just for security. but the lights i replaced were the green looking also. so this picture can show the difference. remember this is just 2 10,000 lumen lights in a 40'x40'x14'. the third bay is an 20'x40'x14.

Those lights put out! I have received several of their fliers at work, just don't want to pull the trigger when we don't plan on staying in the building long term.

"Rolling coal" isn't even close to cool in my book. Had an *** hat think it was funny to do that as he passed us on the freeway while I was on a motorcycle. Not only does it stink, it limits my visibility as well as cars around me. There was serious consideration by the group to pursue and injure but fortunately they only dress the part of the badass!:lol_hitti

The fines here for using dyed diesel greatly outweigh the savings in road tax - and they county mountys love to stick peoples tanks. I think the fine is $100/gallon you have in your tank. :shocking:

On a related note - at least in MO - red dyed diesel is the exact same ULSD available at your normal fuel station - just with a red dye - which doesn't lead to more smoke. Maybe its different in Texas.

Owning mutiple diesel trucks - as well as loving to ride my motorcycle - I'm going to have to agree with everything you said. Just annoying.

My dad runs red diesel and it doesnt smoke anymore than green diesel.

The smoking comes from overfueling/running rich. Add more fuel wirh the same amount of air and u will get smoking. All it is is partially burnt fuel! And wasted money out the tail pipe!
