I believe that even today there is an option for the squaredrive to be rotated 45* from the usual angle. SN25A ?
I'd be curious to know if the drive angle was a military request, or simply something Snap On was trying....
Funny story but I found 3 of them in nos and I bought one, Full retail and 100x times the 1940 price.
When I get the chance I will hunt for it and take a picture, I remember it had no chrome from the war years; I also thought it was cool having the head at such a different angle.
Pictures as promised of my NOS find (say if G is for Government then what is E for???).
On later tools that indicated the tool had been warrantied and refurbished.

You might check the drive, also. 9/32 was a common military drive size.
