Found this Fowler bore gage at one of the local pawn shops, looks to be brand new & unused in the case. Ended up getting it for $35, which is about 1/3 of what they normally run for. Should come in handy when I check the bores on a 258 4.2L I'm considering rebuilding!

Sweet!
Pawn shops are awesome, if you're willing to wade through all the overpriced **** (beat up Snap On extensions selling for more than the website new price, for example!).
About twice a week, I run into a tool the owner has no idea the worth of, and get something for literally pennies on the dollar. Latest example: Two days ago I picked up 3 long pattern Mac metric wrenches for $1.00 each. Owner had no idea who Mac was... asked me if they were as good as Craftsman! :D

Holy Mother of Batman what the heck did they put in the drinking water at that pawn shop??? In Central "AHIA" it would go for full retail, plus front row season football tickets, your first born son, the family pet, the wife, the family car, plus the house!!!:wtf:

I buy 90+% of my tools from pawn shops, and have for better than 8-10 years. Some of the deals you find can be impressive, but it helps to get to know the owners. But, like you posted, you are forced to wade through the overpriced stuff from time to time.

I might be willing to throw in the family pet.

Nice score, Jason!

The pawn shop near here is a dud. All they have are overpriced paint-splattered junk. Had a good friend going through a nightmare of a situation. I drove him up so he could pawn about $1500 (retail) worth of Snap-On in a portable Montezuma box. The pawn shop neanderthal offered to only loan $100 on it. lol. How stupid. Less money for the pawn shop (the lesser the loan amount, the less interest they make).

Holy Toledo, Cleveland, Columbus, or maybe Cincinnati. That's a heck of a good find.

Coo? Fowler COO is all over the map, usually China or Taiwan, but I've seen USA and Japan before too.

Those bore gages are nice, at a later date you can always upgrade the indicator itself if it breaks or you want something nicer.

You will need something to set it to, I am a machinist and we use gage blocks to set them, not really sure what a diy er would use at home. Possibly a micrometer but that sounds like it could get annoying fast.

Good score btw

Lucky you. Pawnshop tool scores are few and far between around here. Most tools in the Pawn shop are HF stuff and priced more than new @ HF across the street.:wtf:
