I pass the time looking through local (SE Michigan and 100 mile radius) CL ads for CM Block grinders; more recently for forum members.

Earlier this week I spotted this ad, just a 15 min drive from me.

The eye shields caught my eye. They look like the ones on my Baldor grinder.

I met with the seller and brought them home with me. The grinder [Diehl], home made stand, and 2 wheel dressers were just the frosting.

Grinding wheel dressers - Desmond NO 1 Urbana Ohio & Vincent Detroit.

Used eBay prices: $9 - $20/each + shipping.

And the Diehl grinder. This is one HEAVY grinder. I thought it was bolted to the stand, but it must weigh close to 70# by it's self.

Interesting. I have a 1966 Craftsman 1/2" electric impact that was made by Diehl for Sears.

How much was it?
I can't say, Mrs. Torqueman may be watching. :lol_hitti

With all due respect, you baited us with the ebay prices and then switched over to not telling us how much it all was.:headscrat

I'm sure everyone who reads the thread will want to know how much you paid. Indeed, I had to read it more than once to make sure I didn't miss what wasn't there.

I do understand thought that if you're going to flip some of the items, it's risky to post the prices here as a savvy Ebay buyer may found them.

I hope you don't take this the wrong way.

Fair enough. But if she asks, you must swear you don't know.

It was listed at $120, and he took $110.

TM: you found a diamond in the rough. even when you posted that grinder on our block thread i didn't notice the Baldor lighted shields. you'd have a hard time just buying those use for what you paid for everything.

nice find and buy and that grinder might surprise you how much power it has. after you do your rehab if you do i'd love to hear how it runs compared to our beloved blocks.

nine4 & drivesit - Thanks! I am growing fond of the little monster, I may just have to give it the 'treatment'.

No surprise, I suppose; these simple machines are fun to bring back from the edge of the junk pile.

I am curious enough, I'll pull it apart to see what is inside and order up bearings, cap, ....

I'll keep you posted, but it is not the 1st in line.

TM: sounds good. you'll have to make a stand to use those Baldor lighted shields with your buffer or they should work with a regular Baldor if you have one on a shelf. here's the 7 inch Baldor i ended up keeping the Baldor shields off of so i have to find a permanent home for them now.

i did like using them on the 7 inch Baldor and that machine could run all day and not miss a beat.

good luck and keep us posted.
