Charles Hammond Edge Tools and Hammers.

Apologies up front due to the many different dates obtained for this company. Just when I think I have it narrowed down to the start of the American Civil War 1860-65 along comes a listing of 1869-1920's. With a Calvary saber contract for 1864 and other references to 1861 I tend to get somewhat confused.

(OF SPECIAL NOTE) I have included a catalog from 1910 which I think you might find very interesting. The following is the oldest hammer in my collection; the exact weight does not include the handle.

This hammer from the 1910 catalog is a No. 282 size 2 weight 1 lb. 8 oz.
(please Note) Extra white hickory handle packed 3 dozen in a paper box.

As usual a Google search brings me right back to GJ. I just picked up this hewing axe from C Hammond. I have no idea how old but the logo appears to be an earlyish one.
