I think with the strength of the dollar you could buy from europe for those prices all year. One of the other members here gave me a link to the place he orders from and it was all 25-30% less!

Prices did not look that bad to me considering the quality. Had the name "Snap On" been on them, then people would getting a chub excited and about the deal.

Some PB products such as hammers and allen keys aren't really worth the high price.
Others however, such as punches, chisels, bits and file handles, are not bad value and of the highest quality you will find anywhere. The file handles are ergonomic, easy to clean, and come in many pretty colors. I luv it.
As for their main product line which are the drivers, the classic PB190 series with Cellulose Acetate handles are also easy to clean and literally never rust. Great for working on cars. The nickel chrome surface coating they use is very durable. Most of the PB190 drivers can be had for less than $10. The other ones I don't like much. Rather go with Wiha.

And lastly, their hex drive sockets. I like them much better than the hex bits pressed or screwed into standard sockets that everyone else uses. And yes. I like them better than the Snap On ones OMG.

Not cheap. But not more than, and in many cases less, the truck brands.

What is the shipping cost? Last time I checked it was substantial.

Reviewed those today - http://toolguyd.com/pb-swiss-tools-bit-sockets/

Wish they made these in fractional sizes.

Nice review. One addition if I may.

It's true that being able to exchange the tips can save cost. On the other hand, the 2 piece hex bit sockets will accumulate dirt, oil/water and debris between the bit and the socket when used in dirty environment. The bits will also often corrode around that area unless you clean them with a brush after use. Especially if you have phosphated bits instead of anodized ones which I believe most, but not all, manufacturers use. Not a problem with the PB hex bit sockets as they clean mucho easy. Their nickel chrome coating, as mentioned earlier, is also highly durable and corrosion resistant.

I have no experience myself, but I heard that PB Swiss is very good about honoring its unlimited lifetime guarantee without hassle. Is this your experience? If so, I wouldn't be concerned about replaceable bits.

Because I have the luck of traveling today I'm doing all this on my cell - I wish the discounts were shown on Amazon too, but discount beggars can't be discount location choosers.

has anyone checked if the ToolLady is meeting or beating their prices?

I saw a couple of posts on here about her as a PB Swiss vendor, but I don't have any contact info on her.

I placed an order for around $300 sale price and still have not received it. Not even a shipping confirmation. I can't find an account lookup on the website to check on the status.

I just received mine yesterday. I'm pretty happy so far and they seem top quality, but time will tell though. I will say, the Swiss grip handles rock IMO!

Not sure if just lucky or if PB Swiss has addressed the smell thing, as my classics don't smell. Now the non ratcheting bit holder does have a very small smell if I stick it against my nose, but not as offensive as some make it out to be. But considering I have no plans of sticking it in my nose, I'm good to go.

My big complaint is the damn a** white billboard (bar code) that is a long the side of the classics. I bought the Classic's as I wanted a quality set for working on my guns, with out having to bring in my garage sets. What I like with the classics, is they also fit into my landscape of my gun room, as I collect antique firearms with some of them being Swiss made. When it comes to my gun room I keep things perfect as can be, and the last thing I want to see in there is a bar code. But that really is my mistake not theirs, as I should have asked I guess, as more and more companies are pulling this ****.

With all that said, I'm happy with what I got. I also feel it was a pretty good deal as everything I bought was under $200 with shipping. If they turn out to be as good as my garage ones (Snap on), I'll be very happy!

Wipe carefully with lacquer thinner? Did that on some rubber hoses that had some funky white printing on them, wiped right off.

Thanks for the tip alberto! Has anyone tried something like this with the classic handles? What I'm asking is, will the handles hold up to the chemicals? I guess I can live with the bar code, as for the most part I see tools as something just to make my life easier. I just like things a certain way in my gun room.

Far as the Swiss grips go, they really fit my hands good. If they work out well between now and next years Christmas sale, I'll be picking more up. For those that have them, how do they hold up to typical automotive chemicals?

Try acetone, it removed the bar code on my PB Swiss Multicraft hard plastic handles. I assume the Classic handles are the same material... just be careful not to get the acetone on lettering you don't want removed.

The PB "sets" are more expensive than singles because you pay for whatever holder or case they come in. So don't think a set will be less money :(

The bar codes appear to be normal on everything brought into the US. Apparently if you order tools from Europe you may not always receive the bar code as it's up to the dealer if he orders them with or without bar codes. I have a bunch of the pantoprene (sp) screw drivers and they all of the bar codes. No way to get them off except major scratching them off which kinda ruins the finish some. The hard handled screwdrivers might come off. Denatured alcohol, then Laquer thinner or acetone would be worth trying.

I ordered my black friday and very sad they don't have hardly anything in stock :(
