Ozro N. Wiswell "Canspout" Pat., # 2,105,575

Funny how sometimes we take things for granted and never give it a second thought. Kind of like today when we twist off the plastic cap on a bottle of oil; I am sure somewhere out there is a patent for the twist off cap but one would never stop and give it any thought.

Back around the turn of the Century Ozro N. Wiswell of Los Angeles Cal. was working on patents for gas & Oil service station products. This is one example of his patent a No. 1135 "Canspout" made by the Brookins Company of Cincinnati, Ohio.

Some special notes- Information about Mr. Wiswell is sparse on the Net. (I found a grave marker but again I am not sure if it is the same man in question)? Also of special note information is rather sparse about the Brookins company from the 1st half of the 20th Century.

Yeah, I've got a couple of those can spouts still around. It's not such ancient history as some of the younger members here might believe, we used them up until about the early 80's.

I have a brand new one out in the garage. Don't really know what to do with it. Maybe use it to empty cans of tomato juice?
