I apologize - it looks like this deal has been mentioned and I don't have the ability to delete my thread.

cheers and thanks,
Ed

Here is my original text:

Hey Gents,

I didn't know about this (if it was posted in this thread I missed it) but I thought I'd share in case it helps someone else..

I decided to run to Home Depot and pick up the M18 fuel combo pack - Drill and 1/4" impact. This one:
http://www.homedepot.com/p/Milwauke...XC-Combo-Kit-2797-22/203639295?N=5yc1vZc1xyZ6

It sells for $399.
It was in the store for $399.
The price tag above the case said $399.

The kid that works there said "check this out!".. grabbed the box and took me to a cash register. When we rang it up the computer went:
$399 - 150 = $249.

I paid $249 for it!

It is some sort of Christmas sale taking $150 off. I don't know what the details are but I really appreciate the kid at our local store telling me about it because there was no signage in the tool area!

The interesting part is it works online, but you have to buy one of the specific items. It looks like they are giving the $150 off the actual set without requiring you to buy another item in store. On my way this afternoon to check it out.

That would be nice, but no such luck in my store. I did a price check on the M18 combo (above), rang up $425 after tax.

Not sure how that worked, but congrats if it did.

There is a way to take advantage of the system and get that M18 Fuel combo kit for $278+tax. Works online only.

Add the combo and the cheapest eligible $150 add-on item, which happens to be the $99 Dewalt battery. After you add both items, it takes 30% off of each item instead of a flat amount.

After the items ship to the store, just tell them you don't want the battery and they will refund you the cost of the battery after the 30% discount mentioned above. That leaves you the M18 Fuel Combo for $278+tax.

I did something similar but used the M12 Fuel Combo as my add-on and returned the M18 combo. I ended up getting it for $202. I chatted with 2 customer service reps prior to ordering, explaining the scenario, and they said they'd refund the discounted amount. I saved my chat convo in case I had issues, but they were right.

Funny, I just bought the same thing online on Monday along with the 1/2" high torque impact w/2 batteries. Got $150 off on the combo kit but not on the big impact. Used it tonight for the first time and loved it.

I'm confused. So how does this work? You just brought that $400 combo up to the register and it rang up for $250?

I was just there earlier inquiring about this and they said it just takes $150 off your second item and if you don't use it you lose it...I thought they would spread out the discount he said no and even called the Milwaukee rep to confirm it made me a little mad knowing that if I chose the the cir.saw or the sawzall I'd just be losing $30... I hope something better comes for bf

This is the current "virtual" sale that does Black Friday prices on a different new item every two days. The previous M13 deal here was one as well.

Thanks!

But why would you upload the receipt and black out the price you paid?:dunno:

Your original post makes it seem like you only bought the combo kit and got $150 off that by itself.

Based on the fact that the max refund was 285.65, it appears he bought another tool. Why would they refund him more than he is claiming to have paid?

I recently had them match a Northern Tool coupon on a multiple item purchase and it did not include tax. Depending on how their system is set up, they can refund tax differently. Some retail refund sales tax based on the rate that they paid when they purchased the item, while others refund based on the rate in that specific location. This only pertains to when you buy and return at different locations... but my point is, most of the time they wouldn't include it in the return value because that does not affect their "sale" price or profit at all.

Just seems weird he blacked out a lot of non-sensitive information, which happens to be information that could lead us to believe another tool was purchased.

I don't think only one tool was purchased. The blacked out info was the second tier tool to trigger the discount. I could be wrong but only an uncensored pic would prove it. I tried about 2 dozen different combos the other night at the depot and the cheapest 2nd tool seemed to be the $29 18v bare tool ridgid radio. Unfortunately none of the bare tool flashlights wanted to trigger the promo at the register.

looked online. if you click the advertisement for the combo kit. then click the step two one, it will apply the discount online.

so you can get the 2797 fuel kit with x batteries, and get the bare 2762 high torque impact for 468.

not sure how good of a deal it really is though when you consider CPO will give you the same exact deal. 169 on the high torque and 300 on the kit. reconditioned though, but recons are just as good as new with milwaukees service

Were you trying at the self checkouts? I was told that wasn't how the deal works but I may have to try myself. Is there a code you put in is it given automatically also how does this work online?

If it makes you feel better, they 'shouldn't' stack any discounts on promos. I tried using military discount on a free battery promo purchase, cashier scanned the barcode and it wouldn't let her apply it.

I dunno how they'd 'take all the coupons back off', you got $150 off by buying another $40, the most you could lose is $40!

I blacked out my receipt because I don't want my local guy to get in trouble for throwing me a solid if he "didn't follow the rules exactly". He means more to me than a bunch of anonymous internet people.

I never said I didn't buy more stuff, I told you exactly what happened - he scanned it and the computer went $399 - $150.

As per my first post I then realized that this was the deal someone else had posted and I linked to it and tried to delete this post.

You can get a cheaper second tool, but that only works in store. Online the promotion gives you a specific group to pick to pick from for each discount grouping (50/100/150). pairing a $399 kit with a $29 second tool works in store but not on homedepot.com. I confirm that you can return the second tool for the max refund available and it doesn't effect what you paid for the first tool.

So the Ryobi 18V radio triggered it but no Milwaukee flash lights? Looks like I'm going to see if I can get this to work. Taking a $50 off $250 Northern coupon, 20% HF coupon, and 10% Lowe's coupon to see what I can get to stick.

Pulled the trigger, bought the M18 twin drill/impact combo. Added the $129 Milwaukee LED with 18v battery. Took the $150 off. I know it isn't the best price, but heck HD has to make a buck.. ok by me.

I opened up the case and the brochure says, Thank you for buying the best tool money can buy. I got all choked up and got the warm fuzzies.

Score!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

So there has been some argument as to whether you can get the 2797-22 for $249.99. I went to Home Depot and almost didn't even try it. I didn't want the cashier looking at me weird if it didn't work, and they took the security tag off only to put it back on. Then I remembered they had self-checkout, and I saw a Ryobi 8v cordless for $39.99. So I figured WTH.

I scanned the Fuel kit and no dice. It rang up $399.99, no discount. I scanned the Ryobi and it took off $150, so it basically took off $110. Now to try to sweeten it.

I pulled up the Northern Tool $20 off $100 and asked the guy at the self-checkout if he could honor it. He didn't know and called over the head cashier. While we were waiting I asked about Harbor Freight, too. He said the only thing he knew about it was that they didn't take their coupons "anymore." Damn. 25% off would've been damn near giving it away.

Anyway, the lady shows up, and she's obviously busy. I ask about the coupon, explain that Northern Tool has the same product for the same price, and I would like them to honor the competitor coupon. She seemed hassled at first and then asked how much it was for. I said it's just $20 off purchases over $100. She turned to the checkout guy and told him that it was fine, that he could go ahead and do discounts like that up to $50. I asked him to take $50 off then but no dice . The $20 coupon basically took care of the tax, but whatever.

Now to decide whether to try to return the Ryobi drill. My sister wants a cordless but I don't know if this is good enough for my sister. And I don't know if they'll take all the coupons back off if I return it. I guess I'll have to find someone knowlegable at CS and see what they say will happen. Oh yeah, some proof:

That's great, but when are people going to learn to ROTATE the pics before they upload 'em.....:D

Wow, yeah I think that "starter kit" is way overpriced at $129 for the LED worklight and one battery. Is the battery even a 4.0?

I might jump on this only because I have a feeling at some point they will "fix the glitch".

I dont need another 18V set, but I could always return everything if I really feel the need to.
