I have the Cman Nextec 12v flourescent light and very happy with it. Does anyone know how this compares with the Nextec one?

Still seems pricey for a bare tool. Is it that good?

It is very good. Good beam pattern and good tint, due to using "real" LEDs instead of those awful dim and disgusting blue-tinted 5mm LEDs that everyone else uses because they are cheaper. Surprise, some of us actually care about the quality of light that is output.

I prefer my Craftsman and the built-in magnets make it way better for most automotive IMO. The stick light does have a 1/4-20 hole for Milwaukee's magnet ($$) or you can cobble together anything you like, particularly from camera/photography stuff.

I hate the 1.5 hour run time of the Craftsman tho; the stick light should be more like 4 hours on a compact battery, and the stick light is more compact to fit in tighter spaces. Still, I just like fluorescent and even with great reflectors LED is still a point source of light, no way around it.

Wonder if it will continue to drop since they will be releasing a new M12 lantern soon? Either way, looks nice, but I am going to pass.

Lantern's been out for awhile, I have the M12. The lantern would not be great as a "trouble light." Very different applications.

You have the one that just came out in October? I understand the different applications but I'm curious, how do you like the lantern?

Dang, price is up to $66.00 now.

There's someone on ebay selling them for $60 w/free shipping, or there was last week, and a good bit before that too. Got mine from them no problem.

I was trying to find a beefy, countersunk neodymium magnet for it a while back to use with the screw hole, but I came up empty on something a reasonable size, high strength, and countersunk for 1/4"... the ones with a countersink that big were always huge diameter.

I like Ign's suggestion of camera stuff... at least they made it a very common size.

On the holder/mount topic. Over on the "show your new tool arrival" thread, member Champ1017 used some IPAD holder and it looks slick. Here is the link to the thread and the pics he posted.

Nice! But it eats up a lot of Z-space. I wish Milwaukee would have just molded in a couple magnets like the original worklight or the Nextec. Regardless, good tech, thank you!
