I personally only buy Tekton when I have to (i.e. a rare use item that I do need but dont want to spend a load of $ on).

I havent had any problems with them, but nothing to write home about either. The one I use most is probably the 1/4" drive 24320 in/lb torque wrench. It works well for what it is.

I have absolutely no experience with Tekton tools. But there have been quite a few threads on GJ.

Search Google using the following :

Tekton site:garagejournal.com

Those are their new wrench sets.....full polished & the come with a nice rack. MUCH better finish/feel than the previous TEKTON wrenches that they used to sell.

I have a set of the metric & SAE, and they feel very similar to my non-ratcheting gearwrenches.

I will have a full review coming out on them at some point soon.

The older one are made in China and have bad reviews. Where are these made? How can you tell the difference?

If you have a Meijer store somewhere nearby, they should have a very well stocked Tekton display to you can lay hands on some wrenches. No idea if they'll stock the exact sets you're interested in, of course.

The ones I have seen and slobbered on are made in Taiwan, as are their socket products. They're quite nice -- there are some very high-end tools coming out of Taiwan lately. I've looked at them in the store, but I haven't used them (I already have too many wrenches...).

Some of their pliers are made in the US  but some are made in China  .

Since they don't list COO on their web site for some dumb reason, I suppose you'd have to ask the seller or contact Tekton.

COO for their tools varies between China, Taiwan, and the US, but as a brand they have obviously paid close attention to quality and usefulness as well as value -- even the Chinese tools are actually pretty darn nice for the money. There's no junk in the lineup, as with some other brands.

I just have the 1 3/16" I ordered from Amazon just 'cause. It was inexpensive but as others have said, nothing to write home about.

I was considering them but ended up with a 14 piece USA made craftsman. For 40$.

yeah for that price and with tekton reps on garage journal i would hesitate. tekton is really good at warranting things from what i hear, you could probably break a tool send a picture of it to them and have one on your doorstep in like 2 days

I have the metric set, bought from Amazon. Got it because it is one of the few lower priced sets that does not skip sizes. Has 16mm and 18mm those 2 sizes are scattered throughout my f150.
Quality seems OK. I have not really had occasion to stress them. I felt they were worth the few bucks they cost.

Tekton has its place, but wrenches are not it.

We've decided to retool the whole wrench line up and I'm very happy with the outcome. The new wrenches are much better in every aspect. The COO is Taiwan, and the sets will come with our USA made holder.

Hopefully I'll have another small giveaway for a few members to scope them out.

Dave,

Your new holders look curiously like Ernst Grippers, which I really like.

I look forward to your giveaway.

avoid the China made Tekton (MIT) stuff - however the Taiwan made stuff is really good, I especially like the 40" breaker bar and the big torque wrench.

How are we suppose to know the difference in all the polished wrenches? Are just the ones in these rack/holders the newer Taiwan made ones?

The difference is very obvious if you saw the old ones. The old ones had a poor finish and very bad handfeel

Dave,
What is the difference between the max torq jumbo (19621) set and the jumbo (1962)?
Are the lengths the same? Weights the same? Is the only difference smooth chrome on the 19621 and satin raised pattern on the 1962? The prices are almost equal.
Which set do you personally prefer? The chrome vs satin RP make no difference to me.

I have looked all over the site, sets and single wrenches. Are more specs and picture available anywhere?

Thanks,
Alan

The only difference is the finish. I'm a polish wrench guy myself.

I've had good luck with my tekton stuff. Dave has been mg go to guy for warranty and never a hassle and only ever 1 warranty for a 15/16 socket I broke after 15 years of serious abuse.

I think I'm going to get these to replace my craftsman black wrenches that are just to bulky.

Don't know but not a fan of 12 point let alone "flowered" 12 point. I'm not a wrench guy so this might be decent for other "not a wrench guy" guys. I've got a bunch of different stuff but hasn't made me use them more.

The first generation of their wrenches, were pretty rough. But, I bought a set of the new wrenches, and the changes are obvious. Better finish, feels like a heavier weight and it really looks like Tekton listened to customer complaints, and remedied each one.

I have moved to buying more Tekton, simply because their customer service is above reproach. (Marketing could use a little help, but they're just getting started.) I used to be a big "consumer based" buyer, with Sears and Mac being my go-to brands.

When I found Tekton, it was on here that I found the advice to proceed and give them a try. I haven't had a tool fail once. (Meaning, I broke it in a normal use environment.)

I say go ahead and take the leap. I'm confident you'll like what they've got to offer.

The new wrenches definitely look excellent based on the pictures, I could see myself purchasing a set in the future for work perhaps. After hearing all of the excellent reviews, the obvious retooling for better quality, and Dave's interest/support for all of us, I'm extremely impressed by Tekton and I'm going to start buying the products. Keep it up Tekton, I think with some more advertising your company could really do well.

Amazon has a clip and save 20% coupon, so $80 for 30 pieces (metric+SAE).

If you decide to grab 'em, Lets get some reviews posted up of the new versions.
