Stanley BC209 Battery Charger Maintainer

Found these units in the Hot Deals section for sale at Lowes and picked some up for $10.97ea.

3 out of 5 constantly click when in use and it doesn't matter what car/battery they are on. I've moved them from car to car and the problem follows the unit.

Called customer support the first time it happened and they agreed it's not suppose be constantly clicking and I should return to the store. I returned one and got another bad one.

Now I have 3 that are clicking so I called customer support again and they authorized me to send them back (at my expense! ) and they will replace them. Great, I spend money to mail them back to get replacements that may be bad and need to be sent back...sounds like a viscous cycle.

Luckily I have my receipts and the latest one is less that 30 days old so it's off to Lowe's I go.

Anyone else here have problems with these units? I have 2 that are working fine so it's not something I'm doing.

I declare these chargers/maintainers JUNK

My son just bought one from Amazon, different packaging, slightly different color scheme but DOA out of box.

Out of 6 or 7, I have 2 that work. JUNK

Returning 3 to Lowe's tomorrow.

My suggestion to anyone looking for a charger/maintainer is to stay away from this brand.

I only use the Deltran Battery Tender brand and never had an issue with them. I guess you get what you pay for. Good luck with the returns.

so I'm not sure 'you get what you pay for' totally applies here but compared to Deltran I see your point.

It's too bad some of the brands we equate with 'quality' have sold off to cheap manufacturing.

I recently went through 2 dehumidifiers and when I bought the 3rd (GE at a local appliance company) the salesman side no matter what brand you buy, they are all the same ****. Reassuring.
