Gearwrench ratcheting flare wrenches

Anyone ever use these, http://www.amazon.com/dp/B002BHXRM8/?tag=atomicindus08-20 Looks interesting but not sure how they would work on stubborn brake lines. I have to get some parts from advance tomorrow and they have these wrenches in stock so could just add them to my online order and use a discount code.

I could see the need for the pros, but not something I plan on buying. I live in the rust belt, salty damp winters. Not sure how much I would trust them to break the nut loose.

Now that is interesting, I hadn't seen those. Not sure I would trust them, trying to picture just how they grab and can only come up with ways they grab two or three sides.

Gearwrench does make a "ratcheting" flare nut wrench and I have both the SAE and metric sets (came together in a deal) and I don't like them at all. One jaw of the head pivots which is what they consider ratcheting and you need a very wide arc to get them to work properly. Fairly useless in automotive work. Two thumbs down is my vote. I usually like Gearwrench stuff, not the case here. These ****.

Good in theory but I've seen them in shops and guys don't like them.

Thanks guys, I was a little leary of them since flare wrenches are something that when you really need them to work, you really need them to work! I'll pass on them. I did see advance sells SK 6 piece "normal" metric flare wrenches for 99 bucks and with a discount they will be 60 for the set. I wish advance would start carrying some of the better stuff in store instead of only having it online. The only set of flare wrenches they have in store is the cheap autocraft and then the gearwrench ratcheting ones. Be nice if they even had the "normal" gearwrench flare wrenches as an option since anyone that's used the super cheap flare wrenches knows it's worth spending a few extra bucks on a good set.

I don't know about using them on brake lines but they are awesome on injection pumps that are close to the block.

A lot of the reviews I've read say they need a very wide angle to ratchet. Since you need to move the ratchet 1 "flat" of the nut to get to the next it would take 60 degrees to ratchet. Most say they are useless because of this. But you are saying they work good in close quarters?

The two styles listed after the gearwrench link look interesting, especially the Armstrong (besides the price) I live in the "salt city" and I use Snap-on flare nut wrenches and often they don't even work but the Armstrong seems as if it might be a viable option because it wraps completely around the tube nut. Usually even if you can break the nut free the tubing is stuck in the tube nut and it twists anyway.

Being ratcheting flex they can be used like a crow's foot.
