Ok guys and gals. I need to make a book shelf. Yeah that's easy right? That's what I thought. I'm over thinking it but I would like something to hold about 25 years worth of 2 seperate magazines. This will hold a lot of weight. I have a 5 shelf in the house that is about 6' high and about 2' wide. It uses 5/8 partial board and has about 3'' space between each shelf that isn't being used.

I have a mig and tig welder and numerous grinders, a bandsaw (wood and metal), circular saws (wood and metal). I have been thinking about 1/2'' box tubing with some thin sheet metal over lay. So let's see some of the shelf's you guys have made....

We've just had one built out of solid oak for the back of the living room, its 6'6" tall, overall length is 9' 10" and its built like a dresser so the bottom part has two shelves and is 13" deep primarily to hold old 12" vinyl records and big reference books, the top half is designed to hold paperback books so it shallower and has movable shelves using a metal track system. Main carcass is 1" solid oak, the top between the two parts is a slab of 1 1/2" oak. Its in three sections primarily for ease of moving it. Has an oiled natural finish. It was not cheap! Only bit of veneered board is the back for cost reasons.
