$639 with the 20% off using CHARGE. Tempting. Shipping + taxes brought it back up to $760ish.

Got my new tool cart loaded up and I have to say it's really nice and has lots of room:rocker: really nice the socket tray lifts and has storage under it.

Bottom box is really nice. Detents on mine are a bit soft compared to the montezuma 72" roller.

How many wrenches fit on each peg? Will a soft or hard handle ratchet fit in the holes?

Also to be helpful and because Autozone's search is almost as bad as Zoro's:

Part numbers are:
Black - mtzrr36xotc
Red - mtzrr36xotcor
Green - mtzrr36xotclg

I assume that caster rating of 550 lb is each caster?? Seems like they would provide a max load rating for the box.

I've had one of these boxes for ~3 years now. Fantastic box. Swallows pretty much all of my hand tools as long as you organize carefully. Great build quality.

I've got 2 wrenches on each peg...1 normal and 1 ratcheting...I don't know if you could fit 3, but 2 isn't too bad.

The holes won't fit my HF composite wratchet. Handle is too fat. Normal hard-handled ones fit fine. Holes for ratchets are probably about the size of a half-dollar.

Has to be 550lbs. each. I've got mine loaded down with a 300+ piece set of Craftman tools, about 6 dewalt 18V tools in the bottom drawer, and a whole slew of other things. Has to weigh well over 1,000 lbs. Still rolls fine.

Thanks. If my ratchets wont fit in the holes that would be a deal breaker. I really want to buy this setup.

So what is the Stainless steel work-surface that is described in the description in the auto zone ad? The bottom chest does have 6 drawers right?

Thanks for the heads up. I have been looking for a box like this at a reasonable price. Just placed an order for a red one. $799 less 20%. Also had to pay $100.00 shipping and local sales tax. Much more expensive everywhere else online.

The top "drawer" handle on the bottom unit is actually a work-surface. I use it a lot honestly. As long as I don't have to get into the top 2 drawers or so, I pull it out and use it to lay the sockets and such I'm using on it. It locks out and in so it won't move around.

Regarding the ratchets fitting into those holes...There's a lot of storage space underneath the holes too. You could very easily put a little bin or something in there to put them in. I got a bunch of bins from Schaller Corp that fit into even the smaller drawers perfectly and let me organize a TON of stuff in the drawers. I basically have all my sockets in the top, either on the pegs (6-point) or in some Hansen trays underneath the socket pegs (12 point and some large sockets). I then have ALL my extensions, ratchets, and screwdrivers in the holes, with a few little bins under the holes section for my composite ratchet and a few other larger items.

The bottom cabinet I have looks a little different. I've got the larger bottom drawer, a medium sized 2nd from bottom drawer, and then the top drawers are all smaller/slimmer. The pictures in the links have a larger top drawer than I have. My bottom cabinet looks like THIS. Not sure how it's different other than the layout.

Thank you. Just need to decided on the color now.

Is it only a work surface or does it have storage under the stainless panel?

I've done some research the last couple of days on this? I think the older version of this had the shelf which now has been discontinued.. I think the ad is wrong. I believe it will ship with only 6 drawers and no shelf. Which for me is not a deal breaker it just makes the top drawer deeper..

I hope someone on here has bought one of these and can confirm this. I really think this box and the way in which it is set up ( 25070 total cubic inches of space) is great..

I feel this will be a upgrade for me, my current box is a HF 44 top and bottom, side box and locker. Which is as long as semi and way to big for my garage.

The I got this in black and the top drawer does not have a shelf . The drawer is 5.5 inches deep not 2.5 inches as on strictly toolboxes website. Came with just a wood (looks to be) top on the cart but is removed to put the top unit on. It's really well built.

Someone who has this set up please tell me about the lid.

Does it fold over all the way on the back of the top chest?

thanks in advance, a picture would help.

I'm assuming you mean the lid on the top chest. It doesn't fold all the way back. It's got a single powerful piston to hold it up when it's open. It opens up well above my head and out of the way. Pushes down and latches on both sides with a lockable latch (single handle on the front). The piston has no issue holding it up.

Also, the socket section has a piston under it too to aid in lifting and holding it up to access the storage underneath it. I have the socket section pretty much completely full, and it still has enough power to hold it open.

I'm thinking you're right. Like I said, I've had mine for probably 3 years now. They were having all sorts of back-order issues when I got mine, so maybe the re-sourced the bottom box and that's why it's a little different. I'd trade that top shelf for a drawer any day. I like the shelf, but I'd like another drawer more. I've got a bench for flat spaces.

For whomever was asking, on mine with the slide-out shelf, that shelf is just a shelf...nothing under it. The handle right below it is the top drawer.

I have tryied unsuccessfully to buy this box using the 20zone10 discount. It will not allow the discount. I had a email conversion with a person from AZ that says it'll not work on oversize items. Do I need to go into the store to get the 20%? Or, have they changed the rules? Thanks for any help

Well the code right this minute will work but ONLY for the green box. Turns out, after a lengthy email back & forth with the customer service, there was a mistake made. NONE of the promotions were suspose to work with this sale. It blows that I may have been the catalyst to screw all this up. I was able to log back on and secure a green box with the discount. The service rep said it was a mistake and would be corrected asap. My advice if you're on the fence, buy a green one now & get 20% off or be prepared to buy without the discount.

I need a bit of color in the garage anyway!

No stainless work top on this. Mine showed up yesterday. And to the question about the shade of green. It nearly matches my snap on green cart. other than this combo has a texture to it (similar to old white fridges).

Ill get some pictures tomorrow afternoon (some assembly req'd). I will say, I was impressed with how mine was shipped. it was on its own pallet and delivered to my garage by a RL carriers with a lift gate truck. No damage what so ever.

WHAAATTT? AutoZone's site screwed up the application of a discount code? Unfortunately, I was watching this thread thinking someone was gonna run into problems. I only got mine resolved (on a completely different item) after filing a credit card dispute, at which point the brain trusts gave me about $6 too much back. Oh well, if they can't operate a calculator to solve a 1st grade math problem that's not my issue

http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=275760&showall=1

edit: I've unsubscribed from AZ's email list, no point in getting promo codes if they can't make them work. I just placed an order with Advance Auto Parts using $40 off $100 and everything went smooth as butter. Huh. Gee. Amazing. Apparently it is possible. :D

For those that have ordered off of AZ....did you get a shipping confirmation via email. Called AZ today and was assured I would get a follow up phone call and nothing. They said my order was processing.

I eventually got an email that said it shipped and I would be charged. However it gave me a weird shipping number, less than a week after the email (which came about 3 days after the phone call to verify that i did indeed order) i got a call from RL carriers asking to schedule a delivery.
