Tool accessory shopping at Ross Dress for Less!!

that's right, I bought some stuff for my tool box at Ross Dress for Less store today!!

For those not familiar with this store, it's a national (or at least Regional) chain of clothing stores, similar to TJ Maxx. They seem to have alot of odd stuff, closeouts, etc.

I was looking for some shoes in there today, and as I was walking towards the checkout, I saw a big bin full of Yoga mats!!! Someone on this board mentioned that they used Yoga mats for drawer liners- so I started looking through them to see what it was gonna cost me. Most of the packages were ~24"x64 or 72" long and most were priced at $7.99. Seemed like a good price to me, and would be a good fit in my new Cman 26" wide boxes. I picked up a couple of black mats (they had all colors) and then I spotted a dark blue package marked "Clearance $3.99"!!!! So, I rummaged through and ended up with 4 packages of dark blue (various shades) for $3.99 each!!

I then went to Sears to try to warranty a damaged Phillips screwdriver- but they were out of stock (3 stores today, all were OOS). I noticed a couple of small packs of drawer liners, MUCH smaller than the mats I got and much thinner too- for $14.99 each!!!

WOOHOO!!!

Thanks to whoever posted the Yoga mat idea- when I first saw it I went on Ebay to see what the prices were like, but they seemed high to me so I just sort of forgot about it.

Well lets see the pics. I have thought about yoga mats before. I ordered some samples from toolfoam.com and to me it wasn't much different than yoga mats. The tool foam stuff does look nice and would be a great idea for someone that needs it for work. But the price is pretty high. I would sure like to see photos of your install of the yoga mats. I like Ross, TJ Maxx and Tuesday Morning mostly for kitchen hardware. I have found some pretty awesome kitchen knives at those stores.

that was probably vicegrip and that is where I kinda got my idea from as well

I also heard that if you use yoga mats your tools will be much more balanced and steady...who knows?

bchee- yes that's the thread.

Sorry it took so long, but here are a couple of pics of the rolls of mat and the cut pieces in my new blue Cman boxes. I ended up with about 3 different shades of blue since that's what they had in stock, but it looks and works great!!!

The yoga mat is about 2x thicker than most of the toolbox drawer liner material I looked at at Sears, Lowe's, HF, HD and other places.

I have the same color mat but never actually put it in. Be careful as it might retain moisture like a sponge and cause some premature rusting. Look for terabyte's tool shadowing thread.
