Look ok, good price point. Obviously designed for all their cordless tool junkies in mind. Not really for those of use who want drawers for tools, not huge space in the top to stand up all our cordless stuff. I lay mine piled on top of each other in the larger drawers in my boxes.

Good for them for getting in the market. The only reason I think people even looked at the DeWalt box was because of the smoking deal they were selling them for. That said. There is no way I would even bat an eye at that at $700. I doubt you could store the entire m12 line up in it, even with the ridiculous amount of deep drawers it has.

I'll probably buy a set if HD blows them out like they did with the DeWalts around Christmastime, but list price is a big chunk of a Snappy KRSC. I know, they are completely different classes of boxes, but for me they'd do essentially the same thing.

Hey what do you guys think about the new Milwaukee tool chest looks alot better then the dewalt one maybe that's why they cleared them out for these. I might sell my harbor freight tool chest for this one.

I wouldn't make a decision till you see it in person. The HF is built quite a bit better than the dewalt combo. One thing to keep an eye out for is how the drawers attach to the slides? The Dewalt used rivets only, where as the HF uses bayonet tabs to make sure the load is transferred.

Although there’s no picture of it, the bottom right drawer features a removable power tool storage organizer that can fit cordless drills, drivers, impact wrenches, and Milwaukee battery packs.

Hmm...anxious to see this...and see if it will be available as a service part at the very least so I can slap it into the deep drawer of my KRL :pimpflash

MIGHT Consider the top portion only to organize my hobby shop workbench area a bit...will wait to see in person.

Add about four more drawers to bottom and it would be a nice set up. The top box looks fine as long as the bottom drawer with a laptop sitting on it isn't a useless waste of space pull out work surface.

Agreed...but if you look real closely towards the rear of that drawer, behind the laptop, there is what APPEARS To be a hinge...I would only GUESS that its a hinged surface..sorta same idea as the SO Writing "plate"

I am really waiting to see more info and one in person...what I'm thinking now is if I can easily remove the top lid, I can place it on my hobby workshop bench to organize all my cordless tools/batteries/chargers.

This and the Dewalt (and nearly every Husky stack) are really more designed for a construction crew's covered trailer than anything else. Not sturdy or secure enough for a real jobsite box like a Knaack, Ridgid, or the like but also not really well suited for home garage, and definitely not any good for auto techs.

It's not a bad box considering its primary audience, just like the Dewalt. But for almost all of us here it is not an ideal box.

The lack of small drawers does give this some utility. Not great for organization, but for storage it has it's merits.

According to the review it is a work surface.

I suspect it's a work surface that sits on top of the drawer. I bet it's a drawer with a separate sliding work surface on top of it, meaning you can slide the surface back to access the drawer.

But maybe I'm wrong. It would be stupid if it was wasted space because it's a "work surface."

I think i am falling in love with it because it is Milwaukee but we will have to wait and see how well it is built when it comes out around June. Hopefully they will have a sale right away for around $500 then i will pick it up for sure.

Somebody then corrected me and said it's essentially a covered drawer. If you don't need the "shelf," then you might be able to remove it.

We are gonna have to see in person to know for sure, but the description lists 7 storage drawers so that isn't promising

I like it, it would be nice to be able to charge all my power tools, Streamlight and scan tool all plugged in and charged.

I wrote it as 7 drawers plus 1 shelf/work surface drawer b/c it's not clear as to whether that drawer can be stripped down to a regular drawer. I believe it's officially described as an 8-drawer chest.

Stuey, thanks for talking with us and running toolguyd. It is definitely one of my favorite pages.

I would love to see one of these boxes in person, but I don't think these boxes were made with me in mind. My tools are overwhelmingly automotive tools, and I don't think I would benefit from having those really deep drawers on the lower box. I guess it might be just the ticket if you needed to store a circular saw, hole hawg, and other big stuff.

I'm sure it's just a removable worktop for the drawer, possibly hinged or something? I find it hard to believe they'd waste a whole drawer by turning the entire thing into a worktop. But you never know for sure, right?

You're welcome! I don't have much time to visit the forum anymore, but I try to come by whenever I can.

I think that Milwaukee is going for a "one size fits all" angle with this combo. It's aimed at automotive users, and HD's product description explicitly mentioned DIYers. I also think it's aimed at industrial users.

It's like the hand tool engineers go together and everyone added in a feature that they wish their ball bearing tool storage had.

This might not be the ideal box for me either (I prefer shallow drawers for maximum storage density), but I think that this combo offers more than some of the plain Jane combos out there. Milwaukee definitely has Dewalt beat, and I don't think it's unrealistic to think that Milwaukee's boxes chased Dewalt's out of Home Depot.

Dewalt's were significantly discounted after the holidays, and Home Depot doesn't even list them anymore on their site.

Can we stop with the made in china comments what is the difference between this and all the Milwaukee power tools made in china that everybody loves so much? My dewalt box is great quality for the money and very sturdy medal if these were made in the usa they would cost well over $1000 and then you would ***** about the price everything is made in china now deal with it!

Why wouldn't they just do this

I get what your saying but I think MAC has that feature in its Macsimizer...

I don't know Strouty, I think 1982fxr's avatar has on a prototype pair. They seem to be working out okay for her!

Meh. A Milwaukee sticker is the only thing separating it from every other red Chinese tool chest on the market.

Stuey,

Thank you for the update. It was your site where I first saw this mentioned. For the price it has promise. I personally will be debating between the Milwaukee chest and the HF chest.
