i am using a solid wood door and some 1956 metal kitchen cabinets to build a work bench area. I will be painting them and putting cabinets across the top.

Added some more cabinets and a metal edge on the workbench front, along with a 12 outlet power strip. I also moved an electrical receptacle that would have been behind the added end cabinet.
Once I fill the gap between the upper cabinets, I will use the upper receptacle to plug in a light for the workbench.

Now time to paint. The only ones that are secured to the wall are the upper cabinets, but with four screws each I can take those down to paint if I decide to.

They look great!!

I picked a few heavy duty Steel Case lateral file cabinets from my company and I'm interested in painting them safety red. What method did you use to paint your cabinets (i.e., sprayed them with gun, foam roller or other)? Any tips that you can pass along would also be greatly appreciated.

I rolled them. They came out better with the bigger roller for me but I am not sure why. I had a problem with using the spray and the gallon paint together. Also, the spray was flat and the gallon was gloss.
Rolling it came out great in most areas. I am not real picky on it beacaue I don't want to freak out when it gets a scratch or dent. Let me know if ther is anything else I can help with.
Good luck,
Shawn
