There are a couple of long threads on these. Overall opinion is good, but the flex doesn't have detents.

To be fair to the OP the other threads did tend to devolve into a lot of stupid.

I have a long handled 3/8 version, brought it right after they came out.

The mechanism is decent, pretty good ratchet as far as that goes. No complaints. Smooth, doesn't jam up, doesn't auto reverse, and seems fairly strong. What more could you want?

The main issue I have with this ratchet is the flex joint. No detents and non locking, and it tends to loosen up and get floppy, so you have to frequently retighten it. This can get annoying, particularly when the ratchet head gets a little loose after use and doesn't stay in place at a chosen angle when you are snaking it through a tight area to put it on a bolt or nut you can't get your hand on to.

If all you are going to do is use the ratchet occassionally and don't mind tightening it up occassionally and dealing with the non-locking and detentless head, then its not a bad choice.

A minor issue is the handle. On mine, at least, the shank of the ratchet does not extend all the way through the handle. I don't know if that would apply to the 1/2 drive versions or not, or if on the newer ones they've extended the shank to provide a more solid handle.

I'll be replacing mine with a Matco or an Armstrong locking flex head ratchet, and I advise the frequent user to do the same.

The non flex versions that are coming out soon should be good ratchets at great prices.

I was wondering when the would come out with a standard version.
I thought about welding the flex head solid on mine.

^^^^^get the Armstrong like he said and never look back. In my book just as good or better than the truck branded ratchets. It is the same ratchet as the matco.
