Hi Guys & Gals,

Just started yesterday, Wednesday 04/01/2015, and this is no April’s Day Joke…….

We live in Coarsegold California which is about 30 miles south of Yosemite in the foot hills.......

We drag race a 1974 Pontiac Firebird in NHRA Stock Eliminator and this will be our Racecar Shop........

It should be completed in about 8 weeks (my fingers are crossed) with 2400 square feet of floor space, 2 12’ X 12’ doors and I have a plan to fill it completely……

Bob

PS:

It's 40' X 60' with 2 12' X 12' doors on the ends (a drive through)....The 12' walls will give me room for a side lift rack

Nice love it. The dirt needs some water to compact right. I know I know there's a drought but it still need some water.
Race car shop are cool. Lots of work will go on there. How big are you making it?

love a drag race shop 8 weeks man wish I could have done mine that fast

It's been 30 years between me having my own shop and now!!!!!!!!

Now I don't have to turn my racing partners shop upside down when I have a project on mine.......

We have been racing together as partners in a bunch of different racecars going back to 1967...........

We race as A & M Motorsports and race a 1968 Firebird, a 1969 Impala and a 1974 Firebird that all race Stock Eliminator...

Hello Bob

Awesome job. I built a 36 X 48 X 12 before I restarted to race. It Cottage uses about 20%. I sure wish I had gone bigger. You are on the correct track never big enough.

Hi All,

It's been a little over 1 month and I now have all of my permits in hand...

The rebar and foundation work along with the electrical trenching is scheduled for May 18 with the concrete pour set up for May 25 (if the inspector shows to sign off on the steel)..

The BORGA Steel build is scheduled for completion the week of June 15 with the delivery on site set for the week of June 22nd.

We will see how close they get to the scheduled dates.

As of now I have 82 days, 14 hours, 19 minutes and 17 seconds until I retire (but who's counting)

I'll keep everybody updated on the progress...

I was awakened this morning by the sound of re-bar being cut and the granite boulders that are in the foundation area being broken up by a Bobcat with a hydraulic breaker attachment.......................

More later,
Bob

Hi All;

I just had 8 6 tube T5/HO fixtures along with 50 bulbs delivered.....

They are High Bay and will be mounted about 16' above the floor....

They are rated at 30,000 lumens each for a total of 240,000 lumens..

They will be controlled by 2 (or maybe more) 20 amp circuits....

I will let everybody know how they work out.....

Thanks for the link Bob
It looks to me like the fun at your place is just starting
I like your new office (where the paperwork gets done) have you moved your air compressor in there yet lol and a cement walk way and a pad to park your 62 would be good by the temp office.

Good luck. I'll be watching

Hi Guys,

It's taken a bit of time but we poured last Thursday.......

7 1/2 loads of concrete.....

Been almost 100 everyday so I watered concrete for 4 days and it looks pretty good...

Had saw cuts make 10' x 12' squares......

They will set the 4 40' trusses on 3' x 3' piers for support...

The steel building will be completed on schedule this week and all that has to happen is the contractor coordinate with the BORGA Steel for a delivery date.....

My contractor does it all in house with his own people for the concrete finishing and erection.....

Here are some pix...

Bob

Nobody found a vein of gold digging around "Coarsegold?" Set up a sluicebox and you can fund a bigger shop if you get lucky!

Awesome Bob!

We are actually talking with Borga and Metallic about our 40x60 right now. Hoping to have it done by November. Would you mind messaging me with who you are using for the construction?

We are in Coarsegold, as well.

Thanks

Jason

Hi Guys,

It's been quiet the last 3 weeks.....

This morning they dropped off the building insulation....

Walls = R-13

Under the roof = R-19 (no ceiling just open span up to the 21' ridge)

I will be installing a wall mounted exhaust fan (220 volt), with shutters, variable speed, just below the ridge that can move 5,500 CFM.....

The building is completed at BORGA Steel, ready to ship and when the contractor can get his equipment on site they will deliver MY shop......

It should start going up this week....

Keeping my fingers crossed,
Bob

What are the benefits and cost differences in a metal pole building vs a wooden pole building? Love the pics, keep them coming!

.......and the beat goes on.....

The contractor is busy with 4 crews working..........

So my shop gets worked on every other day........

Just got an appointment with the door guy. He works through COSTCO..12' x 12' insulated sectional doors will cost $1240 each plus tax including installation. I shopped it pretty hard and this was the best price by a bunch because the other door guys wanted to charge more for a steel build install.

I will install and wire the LiftMaster 8500 jackshaft openers.....

Should have the shell completed next week....

Stay tuned...

Bob

Nice Bob! I will be shopping for two 14x14 sectional doors when I build my building, as well. I just got a projected "ready to ship" date of 8/26!

Thanks for keeping all of us updated

Hi Jason,

Did you find a local contractor or are you going to do the project as a DYI?????

Take care,
Bob
