Long story, but basically, the "Klutch" branded COBALT drill bits from Northern tool, are Huot indexes with high quality USA bits. (made in USA, 21 and 29 piece sets). They have a sale on the 29 piece set for $101.99, and use a $20 off $100 coupon.... You have yourself a VERY high quality set for $81.99! I just went to the store and got my set this morning! Depending on if you have a retail store in your state, you may get charged sales tax, as I did.

Online $20 off $100 code is 215106.

It really is, just brought them home, and they seem to be better quality than my Snap On set (which I believe I paid close to $300 for).

Wow I paid 75 for mine when I bought an air drill.

Is each bit marked USA.? So many cheesy dealers on eBay will have usa made huot index and put crappy bits in them and mark the whole set as USA drill bit set.

There are only 3-4 drill bit companies left in the US... places like Norse you see on the GJ do not even have their own plant that I'm aware of. So there's a good chance these are made at the same place as more well-known name brands.

(This information comes from a drill bit vendor I met at the farm show, hope it's correct)

Wow, this seems like a great deal with the coupon. US, high quality, Cobalt, index set. Hard to beat this for the price. I don't think I can justify needing them, but for those who can, sounds great! - Paul
OK, it's been said before,....Whats "Need" have to do with it?.LOL
I don't really "Need" them either, but pretty sure I am in for one.

EVERY bit is marked USA.
Cool...............Good to Know.................

With free shipping, this is a great deal for a USA set.
Again, I don't "need" it, but I am In for one................LOL

Well with no shipping or tax for me, and 3% back through Ebates, I decided to bite the bullet! I've tried to track down a USA-made NOS Craftsman set for some time now with no luck, so I'll go with these!

Norseman does not make bits in Minnesota?

From what I was told, it would either be MTD/Triumph or Viking. As I said, he could have been wrong. I specifically asked about Norseman.

Consolidated Toledo, Viking and Norseman are the same manufacturer, same address, etc. I guess I misread your post to say Norseman was not USA manufacturer, but that's not really what you said. You're just pointing out the multiple brand issue.

Thanks I'm in for one. I hope these are better than the Norseman Magnum Super Premium I now use for stainless steel drilling.

Got my bits as well thanks for posting. FYI I think Huot is the mfg of the bit index case. Maybe they make the bits also, but I know i've bought Huot in tool box, bit cases in the past.

Are you saying you don't believe the bits are HUOT and that just the case it made by HUOT? Are the bits not marked? I've been on the fence with this deal and this might push me back off...

Huot is the index manufacturer, they don't make or brand drill bits to my knowledge. Earlier in the thread it is stated all bits are marked "Made in USA".

I don't believe Huot has ever made bits. They make the cases, and sell them to a variety of other companies who fill them with their own bits.

The bits are made in the USA. They're not right in front of me, but IIRC they had a C inside of some kind of logo/design. Not sure what company made them, but they look like good quality.

Correct, Huot only makes storage cases and indexes for Drills, Reamers, Taps, etc.

Cleveland?

My dad got some reduced shank US-made HSS bits from Northern Tool a few years ago that are also high quality. I think that was under the old Northern Industrial brand.
