I ran across this set at my pawn shop today and they seem to be re-badged Hazet sockets; they look exactly like Hazet to me, what do you think?

How much of the Cornwell hard line is Hazet? Anyone have experience with these? Is the quality there; I would consider buy these but one thing, there isn't a Cornwell dealer in my are either! :(
Lastly, do you think they are strong enough for high torque applications?

They are Vim products that are made in Taiwan. Some Vim is domestic some Vim's are Taiwan.

HELL NO! Those are **** alloy steel bit, Cornwell Asian re-labels. They are not the S2, VIM import tools. Anyway don't ever waste your money on these, all Cornwell's Asian imports are lackluster turds, take it from somebody, who was stupid enough to buy them, and watch the bits twist under light torque loads. If it's not Cornwell USA, buy another brand like VIM, Gearwrench, for imports, or USA Snap-ons etc.......or the real deal HAZET!!!

The Cornwell page does say they are: "S2 bits for long lasting durability."... I guess I was wrong about them being Hazet? LOL! :)

Autoace, are any Cornwell tools rebadged OEM Hazet or were you saying they sell Hazet brand tools off of the truck?

If they are S2 it is engraved on the bit,for VIM. I had many sets of Cornwell bit sockets(all junk). My dealer sells Hazet, but none are re-labeled Cornwell. The quality of Cornwell's Asian stuff pisses me off. They have some nerve passing them off as Pro tools. That is why he sells Danaher too, I guess. That particular set could be S2, but most are not, and very soft, I returned all bit sets back to the dealer, at a loss. Cornwell does not have a satisfaction warranty, even if they look new. My Cornwell dealer is good, but I'm tired of all tool dealers. They like to take your money, when they sell something, but don't want to hear it, if you tell them a particular tool is not up to snuff. Had about enough, my parts stores will get more business in the future, for tool purchases.

So, have you re-evaluated your switch to Cornwell? Sounds like they haven't delivered the quality, that you were hoping to get... :( What is your game plan now? Are you just going to use lots of different brands instead?

Yep, the online Cornwell catalog says S2 industrial and meets ANSI standards. But, for sure made in Asia. The few Cornwell Torx sockets I have do not say USA on them, just Ch-V.

Yeah, some of this, some of that........................Cornwell USA stuff is very good. He sells Hazet, GW, Wright............I won't buy ****, no matter the name on the tool. Merk. will be here to argue, I buy HF for travel tools, but in that case, they are the right tool for the job.
