Hi,
I picked up a new Mac 90 tooth ratchet. I just got it and haven’t tested it out too much. It seems very nice. It says 1P on it and I think that is the date code for 1st quarter in 2015. The gear does appear to be 90 teeth with one large pawl. I couldn’t get the camera to focus on the gear but there are a ton of teeth. Here are some pictures I took when I disassembled it. Though everyone might enjoy some pictures of the insides.

Nice to finally see one open. Its a single paw? Almost looks like a matco or Armstrong with 2 more teeth. Im surprised they didn't make it a dual pawl. They seem to have less back drag and auto reverse problems

I see the handle mimics the screwdriver design

Maybe when they put a classic Mac hard handle on it, I'd maybe be interested. The handle is ******* ugly and I have a strong dislike for their soft handles. Mac is about 10 years late to the party for me. I have more SO ratchets then ratchets total on the last several Mac trucks I have been on.

Here are some pictures next to a Dual 80 F80. The Mac feels a lot like the dual 80 to me. The handle on the Mac feels thicker. Not sure which one I like better yet. Both the Mac 90 tooth and Snap-on dual 80 are very nice. The handle on the Mac might be a touch longer too.

Nice comparison photos, thanks. It appears the head is dimensionally smaller, but the thickness of the back of the head to the tip of the anvil is the same as the Dual 80. Put it through the ringer and let us know how it does.

After seeing them compared to the king(snap on dual 80) I think these are going to flop. There is no innovation, they are just another sheep in the heard. Plus the price being right at snap on prices, I will wait and see. Got my armstrong 88's and a heard of dual 80's that get used every day, it will be hard to break into that player rotation.

I don't think they will be a flop, but there are so many solid options on the market that a person would have to have a reason to buy them. If you have a solid MAC dealer, then they may make sense. Also, if you are a brand/MAC loyalist then you are probably glad to see them. Those of us that already have a selection of high tooth count pear heads probably won't spend the money just to try them out.

Nice pics and comparison. We don't have a MAC guy anymore so I doubt I'll ever get my hands on it but it looks like a nice ratchet.

Is there something wrong with ordering online? You can also call, their customer service is very polite.

I was thinking the same thing. They went through all that trouble to design a new ratchet and then the cover plate sticks up just like the old 30 tooth XR8. The screw heads don't look flush either.

Neither stick up, the plate has a small gap between the head which doesn't matter in the slightest especially since its sealed and the screws are countersunk. Source: I own one.

No reason to be a hater until you've actually held one, its really a very nice ratchet. Very late to the game but finally here none the less.

The cover sits flat/flush. I had already started to loosen it. I was trying to find the right size torx driver. Think it was T6. Very small.

Where did you buy? I've seen them on eBay but my dealer does not have any yet.

Mine fell off a truck in Texas (Ebay). I believe the official release is right around the corner scheduled for June. They're just building stock.

Looks real nice. I like the handle design. If you're using it, the way it looks shouldn't matter.

I bought a 3/8s drive long handle flex head about 1 month ago. Its been a very good ratchet so far. The swing arc is less than an 88 matco/ Armstrong. The comfort grip design is better than the old mac comfort grip in my opinion.

Well...they have been out for a little while now.....i have the super long flex and like it. Im still waiting for my mac guy to get the long non flex in to compete for playing time with dual 80's. I will say i put it to the test strength wise. Worked on a chevy astro van with the v8...14mm flywheel bolts. Broke them loose with out a breaker bar. Those are on there tighter than a nuns ****. I think these may be stronger than the dual 80's. $150 for the super long flex...thats higher than snap on.

The internals look the same as the KTC NEPROS 90 tooth ratchet. One thing I like is that the selector detent is one spring and the pawl is on another. So you can keep your selector tight and clip the pawl spring if you thought you needed less drag.

The NEPROS is way sexier though. I agree that this handle makes it look like a toy :(

How are you guys liking these co.pared to the Dual 80's and Armstrong/Matco 88's? It seems to me you can't loose with any of them.
