Long time lurker and question poster :)

Finally builiding my garage/shop to work on my quad and toys. Building it with the hope of putting in a 2 post lift.

The garage is 20W x 28L x 13H and to the peak its close to 16'.
Its pretty basic, 1 window, man door and 10x10 garage door.

Here are the pictures so far, will keep adding as i'm building.

Slab formed, rebarred and poured. A little over kill with the rebar

Great pictures, love seeing new construction. Question: what method was used to anchor walls to slab footings??

Looks lijke a nice build and the builder appears to know what he's doing. The one question I have is the pitch of the roof, are you putting a metal roof on ?

* moving to the Gallery Section.

The roof pitch is 3/12 shingled which matches my house. We are putting down a Ice and Water shield that is an adhesive that ponds to the plywood and creates a water proof barrier.
My father inlaw is a waterproofer.

From the pics, I thought it looked less than that. Smart move using the ice shield.

Made some progress, doesn't look like much but electrical, vapor berrier sure took me a long time.
Garage door installed with high lift. It keeps the door 5-8 inches from the ceiling.
Also sheeted the ceiling, fron and back wall with 1/2 inch plywood, and installed the mezzanine.

Still have to roof, install vinyl siding, form and poor the drive way, finish sheeting the 2 side walls and paint.

Awesome! just for location cost differences, what does a 10x10 insulated garage door go for there in BC installed w/opener, reason I ask is I just ordered mine for my 30x40 build.

Wow, My clopay is $1200 which is insulated, installed with opener, guess I need to kiss him...thanks :bounce: I like how you ran the tracks up flush with the ceiling, plan to do the same myself.

Great build, you definitely have plenty of overhead.
Which brings me to the sky crane, have you calculated how much weight is safe to lift with that track?
I had a similar loft in my old shop. I always hated lifting the heavy items up there. I used a loader tractor most of the time. But that meant moving everything off the floor for the loader to move in.

Nice shop thumbs up.

The weakest point is the trusses and even though they are rated for heavy snow load and at any given point the load is suspend in either end of a truss, I wouldn't oust 500lbs. The stuff it lifts is around 200lbs.

I love the height and size of this building. Also the beam is a great idea.

Thanks man!
If I was to do it again I would have made a 6ft mezzanine in the back and on the right a 4ft mezzanine so it would have been a big L shape mez.
Yeah those back to back c channels worked great. Way better then the i beam and way lighter.

Finally installed the air line drops. Went a bit overboard but it looks great and functional. I ran 3 drops over on the one side and one drop in the other that will have a 50ft real attached to it. Each drop has an isolation valve and also a bleed valve at the bottom. Just have to get some compressor oil and run the compressor and look for leaks ;)

Very nice build! I'm wondering why you did not use a wider door and put the walk through on the side?

For what I plan on doing in the shop I didn't require a bigger door. It's 10x10 so it will fit my truck if needed [emoji6]
Also on the side is where I ran electrical from the house.
Oh yeah and the smaller garage door allows me to have a welding table and gear on the side of it.

I get it. After a life long career in real estate/construction, I'm always thinking of "resale" even in my personal home that I've lived in for 36 years and never "plan" to sell.

I never considered resale. Everything I have done so far to the house was for how my wife and I want it. Not for resale. Might **** IF we ever have to sell but for us, we love it :)

Doors and drawers built installed and hung. Still need door hardware and paint. Thinking of going grey for the doors to match the galvanized sides and mezzanine.
