Yep I had the BLT ribbed mats and they stained, bunched up and were always moving with the tites. Solution: RaceDeck using the mats as underlay and a border for were the tiles stopped.
I can guarantee it will bunch up under heavy rolling tool boxes unless it's fully glued down. I have comparable BLT coin pattern roll floor cover and it bunches up and creeps around even from driving the cars in and out of the garage.
I saw that Home Depot has the NewAge roll floor on sale. Has anyone used the NewAge roll floor? Does it hold up to heavy tools on casters? Does the diamond pattern make it hard to move lighter objects with small casters?
Thanks,
Steve
Disclaimer: I sell the BLT G-Floor product and have for over a decade.
We went so far with New Age as to fill out credit information and purchased a roll of their product at full price. The key differences I found with it is it is made in China, not the US. The color layer is a thin (very thin) film and the product is stored rolled from the very beginning and on our rolls at least, we could never get the waves out of the floor.
Regarding G-Floor.
1. The ribbed pattern is not the right product to use for a working garage. I actually would utilize the diamond less too. Diamond is more of the 'show garage' or 'man cave' look. I like the small coin product because the coins are very close together and normal casters and wheels never hit the base, reducing greatly the amount of bunching.
2. Staining: Even epoxy can get
tire marks but it is far more prevalent in PVC. The bottom line is this. The tire manufacturers are aware of issues with certain tire chemicals, but they continue to use them. They can penetrate even (some) aliphatic urethane. There is NO GUARANTEED way to keep tire stains off a PVC floor. I myself, and many of my customers use Hilway Direct Plus.
3. Bunching. Pattern selection and installation method as well as how many mats across has a lot to do with bunching. The installation instructions that have been out there for years can make the issue even worse.
My experience has been that so long as you are not cranking the tires while standing still, selection of the best pattern and installation method is key to preventing this.
OVERALL
One of the things that we have said over and over again, is there is no one product that is perfect for every garage. We sell a lot of G-Floor but there are a lot of applications I would not recommend it for. If you have questions about roll out flooring or G-Floor in specific or just want to figure out what is best for you, send me a PM, email or give me a call.
The large picture below is Nitro after a week. The small one shows Nitro at the edges. It is my UNDERSTANDING that NITRO and VersaRoll as well as several others are all from the same plant.
