Makita SP6000J with 55inch track. Picked this up the other day, never used, brand new in box, still smells new, the cord is even still wrapped perfect from the factory...$225

After reading some online comparisons it runs just behind the Festool saw and only because Festool has a slightly better dust collection setup. However the Makitas cut is considerably cleaner than the rest.

Now just to find a good deal on track clamps and a 118" track as well. :3gears:

Great deal. Tracksaws are a game changer for me.

I've had the Festool for a year, but only because I scored it for 30% off in the reconditioned sale. Built a few cabinets with it already.

Considering trading up to the Mafell as I would like better performance on melamine, but $850+ is hard to swallow.

From what I've read the Makita has the best performance overall on Melamine and plywood. So good the author was afraid he'd cut his hand on the edge of the melamine, there were no chips to boot. I believe that was an article in Woodworkers journal.

Awesome saw, festool is great but some people feel it is underpowered. Bonus is that the makita is made in the uk.
