Hey everyone I've been on this forum for a little while now lurking and this would be my first post. I rent a workshop in the Vancouver Canada suburbs that I share with a couple of friends. Over the years I've acquired a few cool tools and equipment. A friend gave me his old tire changer from work, which I used for a while before I sold it and got a better shape version of it as the internals were starting to wear. Then I found out that there was a better version of it and I realized that I could modify and upgrade mine to it. Then I found the wheel lift and built an assist arm.

First pic is of how it looked like originally:

And last year I got this neat little piece, it was disassembled and missing a few key components that I managed to get and put back together:

Firstly, hello and welcome to the GJ marksport

Nice job on the changer.

You don't see many home garages in Australia with tyre changes and not having to do a tyre swap to suit the season.

Regards

Its pretty cool here at the moment, just above freezing but no snow where we are.
It does get pretty hot during the summer though.

Regards

Sounds similar to the Vancouver Area except we get lots of rain. Snows couple days a year here.

Welcome!!! It's all downhill from here:bounce:

Nice tire machines. It's amazing how tire machines have evolved over the recent years due to the introduction of low profile tires and larger bling rims.

I was working at a tire shop for a few months in the spring and they used very simple tabletop rim clamp tire machines. No assist arm, no fancy parts, just the tire bar and the guys I was working with could change anything including 295/25/20 reinforced sidewall Runflat tires. They could change the tire faster than any of my machine but with a lot of effort. My second machine is nearly effortless as it is leverless and you use the joystick to break the bead and demount the tire. The disadvantage is that it's not very good at doing big truck tires like a 315/75/16 with nearly a foot tall sidewall since it was designed for the ultra low profile tires.
