Having trouble finding much info on this vise. It is what I have been looking for size wise. It has 6 in jaws. Opens to 9 in. Weighs 140 lbs. everything is supposed to work and b in good condition with the exception of one of the mounting holes. Is that hard to fix. Know several good machine shop guys who should be able to fabricate and weld one on. I guess my question is it worth a hundred bucks. And how old do you think it is. It's a model 47 1/2. Thanks

Re: Emmett tiger vise any good?

They are a pretty decent vise, kind of a clash between a columbian and rock island or maybe a prentiss. I had a 4" swivel base.

Jackson: do you have any pictures or are you still thinking of buying it? if you are able to do the fix it probably is worth a Benjamin because of the size and the name if there are not any other issues. post pictures at you can because we don't always see what is described.

also welcome to the group and hope you stick around because you sound like a guy like us that is willing to save a good old tool before going to the store to buy a cheaply made new one.

cheers

I have an Emmert tiger vise. Seems pretty stout. I actually mistook it for a Colombian vise until I cleaned it up in some better light. I gave $50 for it IIRC.

I went and picked it up this evening. Think it will be ok after cleaning and restoring. It was a bit rougher than I hoped rusted up. Got it gor less with on old bench grinder and stand thrown in. Not sure if grinder works has strange wiring. Looks to be wired 220 but data plate is 110. I've got a neighbor who won't charge much for the vise repair. Will try to get some pictures of it all up tomorrow. Here is one of the vise

JF: were are you located and you might want to go in your profile and post it if you want to in case you ever need area specific answers. that big Emmert looks pretty good from that side. is the other side's mounting foot broken?

more pictures when you get a chance would be great if you have any and want to post some.

congrats
