Wilton 835

Hey guys

I just wanted to pop in and show off a Wilton i just acquired from my wife's uncle. It bonged to his father an Structural Engineer at Northwest. In his day he restored a airplanes and cars. I only met him once, but i feel super honored to have this in my garage where i can build on the history it already has!

At this point i have lightly cleaned it, I would love to do a full resto some day
It's missing an endcap and its a 9-45 manufacture, its the earliest 835 I have see so far

Alright i could not help my self

Just tore it all apart, cleaned it, and coated all of it in white lithium grease

It is so unbelievablely smooth

Nice looking Wilton. Many have "solved" the missing endcap situation with a grease cap:

I just got one and it looks good on the vise. Just measure your ID and get the right size.

There is a thread on Wilton date stamps. It is over in the Vintage Tool Discussion Forum. It would be nice to get you vise info added to the database.

Thanks for the info, the onlycap I can find is from wiltonparts.com and its $50

The garage is not dirty enough to justify that currently
