The history is tucked away in bits and pieces and a person could write a book if given enough time. It all started when Walter P. Chrysler developed the deflecting beam torque wrench back in 1924 at which time he gave Paul Sturtevant the licensing rights to manufacture and sell his invention.
Lets see if I can get this right on track Sturtevant formed P.A Sturtevant Company in 1940. Frank livermont A Brilliant man in his own right with many patents to his name formed Richmont in 1940. Two separate companies that came together in 1974. The company can be found in Carol Stream Illinois and to this day they still make their tools in the USA.
I will provide a few links to the company web-site along with a very nice video telling the history of the company in more detail be sure and watch it. Also included are a few picture of some of their tools that I use.
