Finally making a start on my shed build after moving into our house a year ago. The plan is a humble little shed, for some much needed storage. It'll be full to the brim as soon as she's done, but currently my tools are underneath our bed or stashed in a bookcase in the spare room so looking forward to having them more accessible!

My intro thread is here is anyone wants to check it out

So this is our house, so I want a reasonably cute shed to match.

The plan is a 4m x 5m shed. By keeping it to 20sqm or below I bypass approvals with the local council and can just build it. I live in a bushfire prone area so the shed needs to be made of non-flammable materials because its within 5m of the house. Height wise I can go up to 3m from existing ground height. It'll be dark grey corrugated iron with white accents so it reasonably matches the house, and hopefully doesn't look like a cheap kit shed. Long term plan will be some cute landscaping around it to help it match the cottagey vibe. Long term plan is to build a second shed at the back of our block as a workshop space, but that will be another few years down the track I reckon.

You've got a very nice house, if you can match your shed it would be great. I'm sure going to follow you along.
Good luck and keep us updated.

Thanks guys. This is the first place we've owned. We both love vintage/retro, so were pretty stoked to get such neat place like this. The trade offs were the small size of the house, sloping block, and ****** all storage inside and none outside. The good news is any cash I invest in the shed should repay for itself in improved value in the long term, and give us a much better life in the mean time. And yes the view over the bush behind us is awesome too, great sitting out on the lawn after work in summer and having a drink while the dogs run around.

Another day of digging and levelling.

This last shot gives an idea of the natural ground level and how it has been built up. 30 degrees today (86 fahrenheit), and hotter again tomorrow!

Hi hewey, very charming cottage you have there. Hope you have some cold beverages on hand today I think you are going to need them

Looking at your old cars there has reminded me I better go and bug my father to get stuck in to finishing getting his FJ special sedan back on the road.

I'll jump in to follow your progress.

Cheers Grumblebum.

Thanks Grumblebum. We sold the EKs to buy the house. We'll have another cool ride some day, but may be a few years.

More digging and filling today, not as hot was it supposed to be.

Not much progress on the shed front for a few different reasons. Anyway, thought I would share some pics of a quick job from the weekend.

Last year my wife and I were borrowing a friend's trailer to pick up some firewood. We noticed a whole bunch of sandstone on the nature strip, so stopped in to ask if it was actually being given away. Turned out the house was built in 1912 (same year the Titanic sank), and the sandstone was used for the original bathroom foundation. They were renovating and were more than happy to give the sandstone away. Score! Had to do it over two trips, and still didn't manage to get it all.

So on the weekend I finally got around to setting them up as a garden border. Pretty stoked with how it came out

Hi hewey, I like what you did with the sandstone. Looks real nice. I'm not used to seeing your part of Australia I guess. Your surroundings look very fertile, unlike some other areas down under. I'd like to follow you and your projects.........Dan

So this is basically where this thread ends. We decided to sell our house for a few different reasons, which explains why there hasn't been much shed progress, and why I finally got around to doing some landscaping  We got an offer within 8 days of going on the market, and made a substantial profit given we'd only been there 18 months. I'll start a new thread with my new double garage ;)
