Too cool !! What did you have to give for each ??

Now you'll have to work on electrolysis . . . then Re-Chroming the nut !! :D

One of my pithy sayings to myself (Heh heh) is that a 6" hex nut cost $50 to make and is worth almost nothing because it's not generally needed. That explains why a beautiful 32" stroke 1922 shaper goes to the scrapper when a hand operated shaper that can only do 1% of what the 32" can do sells for ten or twenty times what it sold for in 1925. Supply and demand, though in this case the nut is good as a conversation piece it's less likely it will ever be used as intended again.

1. Electrolysis to get the rust off and then zinc plate that sucker.

2. What is the original application? I'm assuming it's for some gigantic earth moving equipment or possibly a large support structure like a bridge, etc?

I've got a couple of nuts about that size from that were replaces as part of a cone crusher rebuild. Originally I wanted to hang them off the back of the 71 before that became big but never got to it. One day I will get around to building a flatbed for one of my trucks and use them for tail light protectors/steps/decoration.

Whatever it's for, it'll sure keep it there! Wow.

That's a bummer on the second part. When ya mentioned the chrome paint I kinda thought you might be inclined to have two pieces of art instead of just the one in your signature line. It'd even fit in a flat rate shipping box. But I'm no salesperson. Lol

I expect, like has been said above, that it's going to get a lot of attention and will be the originator of many future finger strength contests amongst your friends. I just hate to think of all the rust stained hands and paint flakes decorating your floor. < grin >

CudaChick1968 wants to get a nut from you! :hitit:

I'd take her up on it. If you had two of them then you might have bragging rights to something....:lol_hitti

Too funny Fencer!! I was hoping he would. Just think of the memories his friends would have. When they finished playing with his nut, he could invite them to wash up afterwards with a ******** from the Mistress. I still have a few bars left. My picture attempt will probably be upside down in true GJ phone fashion but I'll try.
