EDIT: new pics added after minimal cleaning

Some years ago I mentioned to my father-in-law that I'd like to buy this box when he was done using it. Recently he gave it to me.

He and I enjoy old tools so the box came with some neat old stuff.

Pop bought the box new in the mid-70s. It's been used but the metal is still really straight, a good cleaning will do wonders for the paint.

Looks like a Kennedy.

It does look a lot like a Kennedy 220B. Up close the paint texture looks a lot like the Kennedy 520 I recently sold (I had no use for the too shallow machinist drawers). I'll add a few detail pics later.

This box certainly has Kennedy style, like the drawer lock...

and the drawer keepers...

Under the dirt, crud, and splashes of paint you can see the original blue crinkle paint, especially seen inside the drawers....

Though it is in good shape the paint could use help...

The blotchy spot on the lid was caused by a generic version of "Purple Power" which made the paint fade to a white-greyish color. I'll need to use plain old soapy water followed by a good rinse of WD40 or mineral oil. Primer is not a top coat so I'll eventually need to do something about that.

Very cool; looks like it came from the 70's or maybe early 80's.
I like seeing tools that are branded with equipment manufacturers' logos like Cat, IH, etc.

Very cool box. I've been looking for years to find one like that. Those old IH pieces are worth quite a bit today. Especially the hand tools ( made by Wright). That box is definitely from the 70s. Probably the height of IHs retail hand tool program. Anyways, awesome box.

This was an easy cleaning project this weekend. A few drops of dawn dish soap made for a cheap and effective grime and grease cutter while scrubbing with a toothbrush got into the bottom of the paint crinkles. I used just enough water to keep the slurry from drying out before I wiped the brown crud off the box with an old towel. Then I followed with a light WD40 rub down to displace any moisture.

Ta da we can see the original blue.

The original paint is chipped, scratched, and covered with splashes of primer including both sides that do not look as good as the front. But, it looks a whole lot better.

Thanks for the kind comments about the improved look. I'm proud to be the recipient of this box and look forward to using it for many years.
