This is my first project since getting my welder working again. I've done a little welding years ago on a makeshift frame table, and aside from doing some body work on a old project, this is the most welding and fabbing I've done.

It's been fun to be able to build this in my garage a little here and there as time allows.

I got the plans to build this from a member on another website (67-72chevytruck) and he did a good job of laying everything out to build this. This works real good for people like me, who don't usually have hands to help lift things. As I start to rebuild my '66 C10, I'll be needing to remove the bed and eventually the cab, so this is going to be real handy for me!

I don't have any build pics of this mount, but there's not much to this. It is used on the cherry picker, and actually stays mounted on it for lifting the cab when needed.

Here's all the pieces cut out, it consists of 1.5", 1.75" and 2" box tubing.

Here's the main beam all welded up, just adding the side receivers and still need to weld on the pipe that will sit inside the mount on the cherry picker

Here's the arms that will slide in and out and allow to lift the bed.

Once I'm all finished, I'll paint it and post pics of the finished product.

Calvin,

Eventually I'll need to build a cab dolly also...it's going to be a few years before my truck is a frame off, built the plan is to run porterbuilt suspension components and get my truck to lay frame.

I built a simple bed lifter a while back. It was thrown together with some scraps and a bed frame metal to lift the bed to get to a fuel pump. I always meant to make a nicer one like yours but never got the time. Had a thread on here, http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=213124&highlight=bed+lift&showall=1.

Looking forward to the final pictures. Maybe it will give me the motivation to build a better one.

I wish I had some scrap metal to piece together something like yours, however I needed to buy metal to start my "scrap pile" so I might as well follow the plans. It's a bonus to be able to use it to lift the cab when that time comes.

It's been fun to build this from scratch, as I've never built anything before so I've got to work on my welding skills and ability to visually see something going together. Sadly I'm no fabricator, I need to see examples before I build.

I'm getting an itch to try and build a welding/work table soon, especially with all the awesome builds on here.

I took the lazy way out and just used an engine hoist, some wood, and ratcheting straps when I had the pull the cab off of my c10 and just propped it up on some body horses. you really don't need to pull the cab off for the dropmember unless your painting/ powedercoating the frame, and the bed will end up getting cut apart anyways for the notch. when I did the raised bed floor, I made sure to keep it so the bedsides unbolt from the floor, makes it a lot easier to handle by yourself!

Stooge,

Eventually that's my plan is to have the frame powedercoated/painted when I get drop members. I haven't thought that far ahead, but that's a good idea on the bed floor.

Do you have a thread on your C-10, I glanced thru your thread on your projects and the skirting your front fender idea is killer. I'd like to see more pics of your project, if you have any. Great job!
