If tapping it with a hammer won't do it, try using it to briefly tighten a bolt. Usually works for me, but I usually get them stuck on rusty bolts rather than the tool.

Does the anvil on the tool have a spring loaded pin versus your typical ball detent? Maybe try sticking a small punch/pic in the hole in hopes to release it.

Either use a large flathead between the mystery tool and the socket, then twist the blade to lift the socket up...

Or if it's stuck on an extension or something thin, set the socket on top of a vise, open end up, with the extension dangling between the jaws but NOT clamped in them tightly, and drive it out with a tap from a punch or a 3/8" extension.

If you can't think of a way to remove the socket wether the tool has a pinned drive plug or it is actually stuck you probably shouldn't be using the tool.

Is it a chrome socket? The thread title says impact ... just want to confirm because chrome sockets can get really stuck on the anvils with a hog ring retainer.

Put it in the lowest torque if tool is an impact wrench (both air or battery driven) and go the opposite direction of what you were doing last (tightening or loosening). good luck

Clamp socket in a vise, and drive the anvil out with a blunt punch, be ready to catch the impact so it doesn't hit the floor. Prying or other methods may damage the gun.

Does it have to hog ring detent? It might be worn out and the end of the ring is stuck in the sockets detent hole.

If it is pin drive one must put a small diameter punch in the socket hole to release the socket.

Fella.
Lay the tool on a firm surface like a towel on a bench or table. Use 2 people if you can. One to hold the thing.
Put a flat blade screwdriver under each side and alternate pressure back and forth rocking it up off the anvil.Use a piece of wood as hammer to get the blade in if needed.
Bust out the pics too.

The way you have post pics here is somewhat idiotic.Forget the icon.

+1 on the BFH. Get your gf/wife to hold the gun, take a flathead set against the back of the socket and a hammer and give it a good whack. If that doesnt work whack it a few more times on the other edges of the base. Get creative with a vice and hammer and punch
