Yeah price is out of line but some cool stuff for sure
Couple pretty rare pieces there.I've never seen the pedestal base for the lathe
In the wild and the bed extensions pretty rare but not unheard of.
The RAS is cool cause it matches but ...
The seller wouldn't end up with 2500.00 even if he pieced everything out

Thats 500.00 a machine !
Even if he broke everything down to sellable "rare" items I still dont think he would
Get to his 2500.00 asking price
But, maybe theirs that guy near him thats been on the hunt and its a "gotta have it"
Situation

I'd be tempted, if I were building a dream shop.
Plus they would match my 10 drawer bench and 3 drawer tool stand. I do enjoy the gold.

too bad thats a recalled Radial arm saw, and its Illegal for him to sell it,

Interesting. I did not know that.

So...BY LAW...before you have a yard sale or put something on CL, YOU are REQUIRED to go to http://www.cpsc.gov/ and try to figure out if the item was recalled. If it is listed, it includes this instruction:

"Federal law bars any person from selling products subject to a publicly-announced voluntary recall by a manufacturer or a mandatory recall ordered by the Commission."

There's some great news.

What would members here be willing to pay for this collection? Or how about a rundown of what each person thinks that each individual machine is really worth? I noticed that he doesn't have the gold belt sander on a Craftsman stand (the one piece that I DO have).

I'd say the set is worth about $700. To the right buyer I'm sure you could get more. If he cut his price in half I don't think it would be unreasonable.

Definitely a cool set with some hard to find pieces!

Is that series of machinery as unstable and top heavy as it looks?

It looks like you could push over that band saw with your little pinky and tip over the table saw just laying a sheet of plywood on it?

I see ~$3-400 there given a month or two to split things up and wait for sellers. Sad to say it, but these vintage Cman machines really arent worth much.

I'm getting ready to move and will post a very similar setup for sale, I've got so little in it that I'm only asking $150 total and hoping for a quick sale. I've got an almost identical 10" table saw, 10" RAS, the "other" common benchtop bandsaw (short and fat), and a 6" jointer thats in pieces.

Very nice collection of equipment!

I doubt the OP paid full price for the lot. Let's see what he says when he comes back.

Great gear just the same.

I have a similar bandsaw. It would take some force to push it over. Can't comment on the table saw, but I'm sure it's pretty sturdy as well.

$1k as a museum piece. $500-750 for all if planning to use.

Woodworking as a hobby died in the 1990's. Only hands on dudes and old skool now. Most too busy playing COD on PS4/xBox.

If I had the cash and it was closer I would pay about a $1000 for this and maybe a bit more upon inspection. You might find the machines out there but the stands and accessories are much harder. I have most of the same or similar machines but the accessories make me drool!

I found this to be totally unbelievable so I HAD to look up the law and boy am I shocked.

Here's a page from the Consumer Protection Safety Commission verifying this:

http://www.cpsc.gov/en/Business--Ma...ation/ResaleThrift-Stores-Information-Center/

Here's an article from Fox news about it:

I have bought, sold or parted out machines similar to everything but the lathe. Being a matched set and each having the somewhat rare cast iron bases I could see the seller eventually getting $1000 from the right buyer. That being said, as a flipper / parter-outer I couldn't go over $600. I hope somebody who can keep it together ends up with it but the seller needs to get realistic. Unfortunately, it's worth more broken up and in the case of some of the pieces parted out. Its cool, its old and it's in decent condition... but its not rare, it was homeowner grade stuff in its day and it isn't mint.

Bandsaw 150.00 max
Tablesaw 75.00. Max
Lathe. 100-150. Max
RAS. 50.00. Max
Jointer? 50-100. Max
The lathe base is rare I've never seen one except in the catalog
The bed extension semi rare although i own one
The power pak switches are desirable to some but not really rare
The bandsaw has a couple good items on it the belt guard is semi rare
The fence and the miter gauge are semi rare (bandsaw)
The package together is cool but not nowhere near 2500.00 cool
Its a shame the seller isn't realistic because when he realizes he's way off on price
He'll probably break it up to max profit
