I did a search on the GJ and found an older thread but several members seemed to like the seat that I already own (craftsman mechanics seat); but for some reason they never last me too long (I know go on a diet).

http://www.sears.com/craftsman-adju...xBingPLA&kpid=00951164000&kispla=00951164000P

I found this one anyone own one and do you like it or is it junk and will not take any abuse?:dunno:

I am looking for one to last me for several years, take any abuse, keep on going and at the same time be somewhat comfortable to sit in; I am open to suggestions from the GJ hive.

Just one thing I'd like to point out to you in case you didn't notice. That Bone seat is 12" high and not adjustable. That's very low. In fact, I've been shopping for a fairly short one and that's the shortest I've seen.

I like the old 5gallon bucket. Great for transporting tools around the plant and make a fine seat

Keep the ideas coming, not too crazy about the 5 gal seat as I have several buckets and my **** does not approve!

Jerseykat1 love the pictures, but not going to happen anytime soon.

Good information about the tail bone only being 12" in height and not adjustable.:thumbup:

I'm watching this thread, shopping for one myself but I'm pretty well decided on the Traxion in the video.
I have this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B004SVJDHS/ref=yo_ii_img?ie=UTF8&psc=1#immersive-view_1450284431557

I can tell you it's well made, but I can't say anything about comfort because I bought it to take the seat off and bolted on a platform for my tool bag, now it's sort of a rolling work station, and it's marvelous for that. If you get it for a seat, epoxy some magnets on the back of the drawers or they'll slide open.

I use a Professional HD Mechanic's Seat (HRS) by Whiteside Manufacturing. There is a red and a black version and I bought the red one off Tooltopia. It was about a hundred bucks, but after spending 30 or 40 bucks every couple of years on Chinese Craftsman seats that would always end up breaking, I decided to give this one a spin. It's made in the USA out of USA parts, the magnetic tray in the bottom section is handy and it rolls nice and smooth. I know it's hard to describe, but it FEELS like it's made to last. I weigh 280 lbs, (I know, I know...) and it feels like you could put two of me on the thing. As far as I'm concerned, this chair is a 9.5/10.

Edit:
I just noticed Knobby bought the same seat a few posts up. Glad to see I'm not the only one who digs this thing.

i have the same whiteside one as pictured above. No doubt it's a sturdy rig but the lack of height adjustment and small casters are negatives for me.
I think the next one I get will be this one from Traxion

Don't laugh...

But this thing rolls over electrical cords, air lines, cracks in the floor, etc...

And the price is right...

Harbor Freight #91495...$ 59.99 or $ 48.00 with 20% off coupon...

Also available from other places for more money, and they may be slightly different...

Rated at 300 pound capacity...

I like mine...

Why do you need a seat? I know, it's the height for max jax. But those without it?

I have never visited a shop or dealership and saw anyone on a seat.

I have a couple but only sit on it when I am having a drink or waiting for things to dry.

Honestly an office chair with the back taken off is better than any creeper seat. I feel they last longer aswell than some cheap vinyl creeper. I'll take a pic of mine then

If I had a lift, I wouldn't use a seat either.

I got a torin roller seat for 20 or 25 on amazon. Not as good as the whiteside's with the back support but you can't really beat it for the price and it's well built.

They're kinda handy just for all around work in the shop. Yesterday I built a mobile base for my table saw and did it all from a rolling mechanic's seat. Nicer than sitting on the concrete or worse kneeling.

I've got this guy that I bought for 20$.

I've had this for awhile. Cheap office chair with the back and arms off. Doesn't have cheap vinyl that rips either

I got one like this by Snap-On. It's a hand me down from my dad and has been the best shop seat ever.

Problem I don't like with those seats^^^^ is u can only sit in it one way. I like being able to get up and down off of it without looking where I'm sitting down

I'm not a huge fan of Craftsman, but i have enjoyed their seat this past year.
I've comfortably used it for a lot of my auto detailing.
