was asked to start its own thread on this one.....so here we go.

MixManSC posted this from ebay.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Wilton-6320...-Channel-Vise-with-Swivel-Base-/301829623647?

looks too good to be true.

However, I bit on it. I ordered one, and the seller is communicating to date.

supposed to ship Monday.

Ill post progress, or lack of it as it occurs. If I get it, Ill post a pic.

Alot of naysayers so far, but should be protected with Ebay if it doesnt deliver.

You're going to make a lot of people angry by posting a "deal" that's already over.

He has relisted another 8 and then another 4 claiming it is the last 4.
the location and signature style and kind of name used is highly alarming.

It sold fast cash flow wise because people are buying 2 or 3 .. man some people are greedy, I think they want to resell it themselves.

This should be an interesting one to follow- I seriously thought about ordering one, but don't really NEED it, so I didn't want to deal with the potential headache. Those who DID order one will be getting a great deal, if delivered... Otherwise, We might just have some good entertainment.

I'm going to pop some popcorn, sit back, and watch this one play out :)

I laughed out loud at this. Thanks for that.

Good luck with the purchase. I'm still waiting for my miller 211 to show up, maybe Santa will put it under the tree...

They were all sold at $265.00 and they sold 20 of them in total. Quick $5300.... Keeping my fingers crossed (I only bought one) but not feeling terribly hopeful that I'll actually get a shiny new vise.

More likely a shiny piece of paper and a big brick.

Just got a FedEx shipping notice! 60lb package via FedEx 2 Day. Its a legit notice from FedEx too. Shows a place out of Naperville, IL for returns.... :headscrat

Also it shows 60lbs but the shipping weight on a couple of retailers like CPO is 71.3 lbs. That's not really uncommon though for shipments to not indicate their exact correct weight as a lot of places simple do not have the ability to accurately weigh something for shipping.

Sweet, post when it arrives. Just a heads up though, when someone pays for shipping through eBay, you can punch in whatever weight and dimensions you want, and I don't think that gets changed by FedEx. Not trying to scare you, I'm just not sold that this is legit yet. Hopefully it is...

Oh I'm not totally convinced either.... this does however give a bit of hope. That place in Naperville does not seem to exist. Searching for that brings up nothing so no telling really since there is not actual address listed. If there was an actual address we could at least look it up. Right not the tracking just shows "shipment information sent to FedEx". Guess we will know at least a little more later this evening if the tracking actually shows it as a live shipment and not just a label created.

Also - this a label created directly in the FedEx shipping software (FedEx Ship Manager). eBay still has no tracking information showing on my purchase. I'd have the tracking number in my eBay page if they had created the label through the eBay system.

Our only glimpse of hope here that this is shipped from about 30 miles from Wilton factory. Or is that only the address for return.

The guy can enter anything and ship a piece of paper

And until it gets a Fedex scan it's still just a notice. The seller might possibly be trying to buy some time.....

Fedex 2 Day costs $175 for 60 lbs from Naperville IL to SC 26169. This is becoming increasingly less likely to be legit....

Business accounts save more money than you would ever believe on shipping. However you never know until it is in your hands. Good luck to all.

It is picked up from ELK GROVE VILLAGE, IL.

This is interesting indeed, could it be drop shipped from Wilton ex employee?

This is about as exciting as the $250 minimum blackjack table at the casino

Yup..... might be a box of bricks. One thing for sure. They at minimum spent a chunk of change just on shipping. Even if it is bricks. Not worried about my name and address..... its public no matter what. The address is my business (I have a sign company). Not that it would be hard to find my home address either. Such is the way of the internet nowadays when it comes to personal info. Just about everyone is out there and easy enough to find if one is determined to look for it. Try googling your first and last name with your city and state. Odds are pretty high you will find yourself.

Even if it was 50% discount (and based on my business acct, it is not), that's still a boatload of money to offer under "free shipping". Makes no sense how the seller is in Canada, lists item as "in Canada" (when it's not), only offers shipping to USA, then provides free 2day Fedex when the item was listed as UPS Standard delivery. The whole thing looks like a scam to me.

Ok cool, I was just giving you a heads up in case you didn't want it out there.

If it is a piece of yellow paper like mine was for the welder, try to go through Paypal first as Ebay support wasn't the greatest for me. I had to have the local sheriff stop by and write up a report in order to get my money back.

775257188850 shows picked up, and has est delivery date of 23,, its legit the guy isn't going to send 60lbs of brick 2 days with fedex.

Fedex does not update the weight. If the sender put 60lbs on there, it will say 60lbs even after it's delivered. This was the hassle with when I got my piece of paper, as Ebay support said "but it says 70lbs".

Not true. All the packages that go through the major FedEx sort centers are measured and weighed. I've shipped packages through FedEx where I guessed the weight, when I checked the tracking info the weight amount was different than from what I entered

Another small update from FedEx. Now it shows the box dimensions on the FedEx web site. Its hit Tennessee and is scheduled for delivery tomorrow.

While I'm still very skeptical I'm also very hopeful. One thing that strikes me is that the seller shipped things fast! I mean if they are trying to get away clean with as much $$$ as possible I'd think they would delay as much as possible before shipping. They even put in a 5 to 15 day shipping time in the listing so they had some time to delay things a little. Instead they are making sure people get them for Christmas! Could very well be a lump of coal but maybe, just maybe we will get lucky.

You're getting something else methinks. Amazon says that vise weighs 73 lubs which helps corroborate the CPO tools weight. :willy_nil

The weight is in the ball park
It is possible shipped 20 of them and got some kind of discounted weight.
Maybe it doesn't come with handles and lead screws

The dimension checks out..
I will be checking eBay feedback tomorrow to see if it goes negative

I looked through the ebay listing to see if I could find any red flags. Other than spelling errors, which aren't red flags these days online, the only thing I notice is at the very end of the description it says "Manual"

I googled the entire copy/pasted manufacturer info that he posted and it comes up on other sites, give or take a word... but none of them say "manual" on the line after the width measurement.

So this might be a great deal on a vise or a $265 Wilton Tradesman manual lol. Only time will tell.

Regarding shipping weight, I bought a base/motor/switch assembly for a jointer a couple weeks back. The UPS shipping information stated a shipping weight of 83lbs. The base couldn't weigh any more than 50lbs after having picked it up off my porch mightily expecting 83 lbs.
