This is a Zim #301 Valve grinding tool That I purchased in 1962. It probably does not really qualify as vintage as they still make the same tool today. The real selling feature was the all steel construction. Competing tools had a cast iron housing which was easily broken if dropped.

How are the rubber suction cups holding up?

Mike

The suction cups are getting, so to speak, a little tired.

They are still usable however.

Picked up a No. 305 at the flea market today. Perhaps a little older than the 50's as it still came with the various steel attachments to pin on the end for lapping various size valves. The tabs were inserted into slots in the head of the valve. These same kinds of lapping attachments were also pinned to special sockets and driven with a speeder. Blackhawk and other mfgrs put them in their bigger socket sets. And Indestro made one that was adjustable.

I finally got one but had to resort to the wood stick version as no matter what I did it would not turn the valve. I am thinking something is worn on the inside. I can rotate the handle but it would just click the stem would just jerk back and forth.
