According to my Home Depot [homedepot.com] (NorCal) they will no longer match competitor coupons (e.g. Lowes 10% off, OSH $10 off $40, Menards, Ace, etc...) as of 01/26/2016 (i.e. last day to do so is 01/25/2016).

I assume people in other areas of the country will chime in -- or that a HD employee will confirm or deny...
I know this was mentioned in the HD clearance thread but really should have it's own thread. Would be curious to see people posting results on if they are still able to use discounts or are in fact getting denied. I assume this is only in matching other store discounts and not affecting price matching/beating of individual items.

They may have even ended the menards 11% rebate matching. I downloaded the latest pdf for the rebate form and the old one from the end of December was removed but the new one I downloaded just has a blank calendar.

Interesting. Can't say I blame them. My store's been real solid on matching HF 20%, BUT I always go do the survey and leave them very high marks. Honestly I'd think my store mgr is ahead to give up a few $$ in sales but appear to corporate as if the public loves his store.

The form I just opened is editable, and I can input the dates and chose which rows (weeks) to highlight.

Not sure if it's because I have Adobe Pro or what but...

I can understand the the HF coupons and even the Lowes coupon as you can get it in an e-mail and print unlimited number and they know this. The menards rebate would be the biggest surprise to me. It's advertised online and in their weekly ad. There's really no question about it being a legit discount matching of a competitor.

I looked again and I'm able to also with just standard adobe. That's weird, and the yellow and orange tabs next to it turn on/off the highlight for the rows. The last time Menards had 11% rebate HD didn't have a new page updated until Tuesday so I'll be checking tonight and tomorrow to see.

My local HD said they will no longer match the Lowes 5% discount when you use your hd credit card at the end of this month. It was nice while it lasted. No more reason for me to keep the HD credit card.

It used to be a fight to get them to offer their own 5% discount if you have a HD card. Then the past two years or so they would do it if you asked before you had to beg.

Now if they are going away from that what's the benefit? HD's generally higher price than lowe's, which works great buying things they both sell regularly but otherwise that match was at least an equalizer between having the HD and Lowe's card.

Coupon games.. Home depot.. Just like jc penny. staples and various others.. They will regret it and bring it back..
Staples use to take coupons, then they cut it off,,, hurt sales because teachers, companies offices all had other cheaper place to shop.. So then staples took coupons back and now emailing coupons to the point of almost spam coupon emails.

I could do with some staples spam honestly, or HD.

I have got maybe 10 coupons ever from HD. I don't consider the 'get 10% financing' adver-coupons it's the same deal you can get in store no need for the scan thing.

Have you guys had success with them giving the 11% on top of a 10% lowes coupon match?

I haven't even been able to get them to match the Lowe's 10% here. After a couple of times of that I rarely shop there if there isn't a specific clearance item I'm after. There is a Lowe's and Menard's both within 1/2 mile. I figure why bother. They are higher priced than the other two on nearly everything.

Can verify that they're not taking Lowe's coupons for online orders anymore. Tried the online chat twice and 2 different people told me they weren't taking Lowe's coupons anymore ( at least for online orders).

Interesting on those who find Lowes cheaper than Home Depot. Around where I live Lowes is often the most expensive of the three. Menards and Home Depot often have the exact same prices on many items.

Terrible news on Home Depot no longer taking coupons. I guess Menards will get more of my business.

Used one today in store, no problem. With online, get on chat and start asking for discount.. 2 times I was on, both offered 10% discount but wouldn't match store price.

I find HD people are 10 times more knowlegable than Lowes or Menards and their customer service is too! Lowes and Menards are pathetic!

+1
I have price shopped both many times and HD has always been cheaper for me. Sometimes they have the exact same price, but usually HD is lower. Not sure if it makes a difference, but there are no Menards around and this is HDs headquarters.

Who knows?
That's strange. I have a Lowes and a Home Depot that are quite literally facing each other from opposite sides of the highway. Lowes has had in most cases a better selection of products while also having a lower price on those items.

I actually DIDN'T use it more than once, but no. As a percentage whatever they lost on that was still infinitesimally small, plus the answer to abuse is better training and a tweak of policy rules. If this was truly the reason for killing the program, HD is just stupid. IOW fix the problem, don't just throw away the whole car 'cause the alternator went out.

Just 2 examples of 100 fixes:
- take only original printed coupons, at least for TV. I know some guys forge it on glossy, but it'll help discourage a lot, just like locks keep honest people honest.
-simply don't allow discounts greater than, say, 20%, .......OR anything more than 20% requires mgr approval and THEN you only have to train mgrs about special exceptions like TV instead of having to train your entire staff.

Lowes doesn't sell Milwaukee lol would be the response I'd get with my luck at HD. it was closing time and I had to be somewhere so I just paid., it should have been $25 off, have to go back tomorrow for a price adjustment anyway since the tool was cheaper online. Spent $500 and they looked at me like this again when I asked for the lowes match. Nope we ended that 2 days ago wtf.

No menard's here so I don't think they will honor those rebates either if there not local to you.

Didn't know about the CS discount, I had a pro $20 off 200 discount but that wouldn't stack with the 150 off tool promo.

If they refuse to honor a competitor's coupon, I say "fine, you've just lost a sale" and just walk out.

I will never complete the transaction if they decline a coupon. Re-shelving the item probably costs them more than selling it to me at a discount....

Menard's is done via rebate you print off. Just use the link above and mail in.

And how much time did you just waste by having to go elsewhere to buy your item(s)?

What ***** about HD not taking coupons is they are the only place I buy most of my electrical supplies. They carry Leviton electrical stuff which I like. A bonus is a lot of Leviton outlets, switches, and plates are made in the USA. Most electrical stuff is made in Mexico or China these days.
