I know a lot of guys are big on SK ratchets...I was wondering how they are about providing rebuild kits? If my ratchet breaks, will they send me a kit for free?

Even if you offer to buy an SK rebuild kit, they'll send you one for free. Best customer service of any tool company.

I sent them an email requesting 2 1/4" drive kits and I get a return email saying that it will be sent out within a few days. Never a problem.

I bought their 17" 1/2drive flex head last year during SK day, and the first week I wasn't thinking far enough ahead and backed off a trailing arm bolt tight up against some other bracket without space to flip the directional switch. bit the bullet and knocked it free with a mallet, messing up the switch, still functioned but I had just bought it and wanted it to still look nice. called on a Monday, told them the truth, that I damaged it and wanted to buy a new one, she basically said "it happens" and I think I had a new one by Wednesday free of charge.

2 weeks ago I called SK customer care about rebuild kits for 2 old #40970 1/4" drive ratchets. I was fully expecting to buy them but, after what was less than a 5 minute call, they had 2 kits on the way to me free of charge. They came via UPS about a week later.

Never had a problem getting a free kit, even on a couple of garage sale finds that were probably built in the 70s or 80s. Excellent service

Received free kit when I asked for one when I sent in a socket for warranty. Since then have bought a 48 piece SK socket set and going to buy one or two more in other sizes.

Excellent customer service .
I have become a real fan of their tools. I like the green handles on the screwdrivers and pliers.
Made in the USA matters to me and I respect them for keeping jobs here when others are sending them offshore.

So the ratchet in question was slipping fiercely, and the little piece that the socket snaps onto (what's that called?) had broken off. I emailed them yesterday and got a reply back this morning. Like others, I offered to pay for the parts but the lady was super nice and said they would send them to me free. She was really beautiful too, at least in my mind ;)
