Sorry for a stupid question. But is the handle extendable? I'm looking at this on a phone so I can't really tell. And if it is, how flexible is it? Thanks

The handle/shaft is telescopic, with incremental notches to lock the handle at the desired length.

Thanks, that's what I thought. But on this phone if you try to expand the picture it goes away.

I have the 36" original version, mine is bent, but luckily it bent below the notches so I can still extend and retract it. After seeing the new versions (like the one for sale), I would rather keep my old bent one.

push in the button and extend the shaft.

Strouty... yours bent between the last notch and the prying tip? What's different between the old/new?

pictures might be deceiving, but it looks like you have the smaller version:dunno:

Nope, you are right, this is the "biggest one" they used to offer. I never really thought about it in terms of overall length. I think this one is only around 36", but not sure how they measure it. I updated my original post.

The main reason I do not like the new design has to do with the release button, the old one is recessed and the new one is not.

I measured it and they are using from prying pivot point (center of red) to handle end. 48" extended and 29" un-extended... and don't tell the wife I put it on the kitchen table to measure it :dunno:

I can't imagine bending it... but maybe because I only weigh in at 185???

I won't tell.

I am closer to 300 so I have a bit of an edge in the bending department. Maybe I will change my mind after getting them both side by side.

There is some selfless conduct.

Digging deep down and forcing oneself to buy a tool just to give other GJ members a decent comparison review.

Good advice, I will put it through a bit of a test and see what I think. I will have to see if the local place carries them, then I can at least warranty it if I do brake it.

I have one of these and everyone is right it is a beast... I am a heavy duty fleet mechanic and I abuse this tool regularly and have never had a problem with it

Mine arrived yesterday, looks good overall, but I will say that the release mechanism for the adjustable length handle is ridiculous. It sticks out like a sore thumb and I can see it being a problem or getting broken fairly easily. I am going to compare the old one that I have and this one, not totally fair as the old one is not as large, but I think if they could combine the two, they would be a great tool.

Sounds like a good task for your new machining center. You go bud!

Mine came today. Surprised at how beefy it is. Had tried to come thru the box, I think CPO hired Zoro to pack it.

In wonderfully predictable GW fashion there are some minor quality issues. The cast grooves on the underside of the head are noticeably deeper on the left of photo than right (although it may not be detectable in this photo you'd immediately notice in person)

You guys are going to laugh at me, I can't find my older one. I have a few more places to look, but I thought it would be in my pry bar drawer, then I looked in the bigger drawer and it wasn't there either. Hopefully it is in one of my knaack boxes, but it was raining today and I did not feel like opening them.
