New Knipex hose clamp versions of the cobras, updated to have a locking feature. Curious to see how these would work in the real world. The video is sort of interesting. P/n is per thread title.

Bumping this -- any updates from field/? my understanding is the locking one doesn't have the fastgrip feature. anyone who has used both designs out there?

[edit: cobra has a "quick-set" version (not fastgrip which is vbw) - model 87 21 250 see, eg http://www.crawfordtool.com/knipex_8721250.html]

I have those at work. They do adjust just like regular Cobras and have the locking wedge to keep the pliers locked under pressure. I would like to see a smaller version.

yes I have them and use them a lot. Worth the money when u need them, I still prefer straight jaw slip joint for most hose clamps but love these too.

T45, not sure what the "fastgrip feature" is, but the locking ones are very nice. I ended up buying them and I have not been upset about the cost one bit. To be honest, I could see a place for the non locking ones, but I have not had a real problem with them yet.

Hey strouty - thanks for the update. the fast action closure I was referring to I believe is "quickset" (regular cobra option-- 87 21 250). I was confused :).

From the sounds of it, these Knipex work pretty good at doing their job. Glad to hear that -- sometimes he biggest thing is always to make sure OEMs do their beta testing at the factory and not on early adopters. :D

As for the cost...I believe price is always debatable on specialty/premium skus like this, especially these ones because they are gen 2.

The oem needs to recoup some cost for r&d from the guys who profit the most from new features. Hopefully price will come down a bit as production ramps up and initial capex/etc is depreciated and $$$ recouped as profits.
