I haven't been disappointed in anything I've bought Knipex .
Bumping this -- any updates from field/? my understanding is the locking one doesn't have the fastgrip feature. anyone who has used both designs out there?

I have those at work. They do adjust just like regular Cobras and have the locking wedge to keep the pliers locked under pressure. I would like to see a smaller version.

T45, not sure what the "fastgrip feature" is, but the locking ones are very nice. I ended up buying them and I have not been upset about the cost one bit. To be honest, I could see a place for the non locking ones, but I have not had a real problem with them yet.

Hey strouty - thanks for the update. the fast action closure I was referring to I believe is "quickset" (regular cobra option-- 87 21 250). I was confused
.From the sounds of it, these Knipex work pretty good at doing their job. Glad to hear that -- sometimes he biggest thing is always to make sure OEMs do their beta testing at the factory and not on early adopters.
As for the cost...I believe price is always debatable on specialty/premium skus like this, especially these ones because they are gen 2.
The oem needs to recoup some cost for r&d from the guys who profit the most from new features. Hopefully price will come down a bit as production ramps up and initial capex/etc is depreciated and $$$ recouped as profits.

FYI pic/link shows 85 51 250 A, which is the non-locking version (with quickset jaw adjusters). Anyone looking for a locking one should double check p/n's to confirm you are getting (p/n ending in AF) intended version.

The kicker is the shipping, at about $30 US. But if five people joined forces, could be done for maybe $62 each, including the cost of additional shipping to each recipient. Anybody planning a trip to Germany anytime soon?
