Not all trips to Sears are a waste. I went to the mall after dinner yesterday with the wife and kids. They wife told me I could use the points on her Shop Your Way card. I made a couple of laps around lawn and garden and tools, before deciding on a couple of ball peens. 32oz $22 and 24oz $20 on the rack.
Both on sale at check out $14 and $12, 5% military discount, points, plus $7 in surprise points. Total out the door $1.87

Nice! I just got back from Sears actually, they had some socket shaped shot glasses with a little bar mat for $2 so I grabbed the couple that weren't broke.

I used some surprise points and points from a previous purchase to get a Craftsman air hose for $11 yesterday. 50 feet long and made in the USA.

I think the best things to purchase at Sears are lingerie items for the wife/girlfriend. :) More bang for the buck compared to their tools.

Maybe workwear like boots, Carharrt, Dickies might be a good Sears purchase.

Those Shop Your Way points aren't "free." They are a small discount (1%?) off other purchases (which tend to be higher than other places like Amazon).

But I still like Sears!

Yep, using that little Shop Your Way card probably results in a lot of sales for them. I have a neighbor who used to have a HF addiction before he finally got fed up with products not working out of the box or breaking after 1 or 2 uses. So now he goes to the local Sears Hometown store for most of his tools, yard stuff. He didn't know about SYW until I told him about it.

They have had Knipex on sale the last couple weeks. Picked up the mini bolt cutters for $8 after points/coupons.

The surprise points are free however. And sometimes you get good ones like $10 off $10, $20 off $25, $15 off $15, $5 off any purchase. I sometimes use the $10 off $20s if it makes the item a really good deal (just got a 2-3/8 USA 3/4 drive socket for $11, cheapest from another USA made brand is around $50 or more!).

Last year I spent roughly $50 at sears.

I got over $400 of products for $50 spent due to surprise points, coupons, and other discounts that stack sometimes.. Hammers, rafter's squares, carpenter's squares, soapstones, some USA 3/4 drive sockets, truck toolbox, various USA open stock sockets and wrenches for building an in car tool kit, magnetic levels, and so much other stuff that I don't really remember.

I love sears simply because of the surprise points and getting stuff for free/almost free.

This year I don't have quite the ratio of free/almost free stuff to money spent, but I've also made a purchase or two for things I actually needed (the Stride USA made hose pinch pliers that are rebranded by everyone from Snap On to SK to Craftsman). Still get happy when I see some good surprise points appear. Always ready for more free tools!

I never bought anything at Sears tool dept unless it was on sale or was an extreme emergency
most times it was 50% off
seems those days are about done

I get offers in my email quite often and finally gave in tonight . Ordered online for instore pickup on a 1/4 bit ratchet set and paid 15 cents. Once in the store they had crescent x2 long reach pliers 2 pack on sale for 19.98 and I paid 5$ and change out the door for them using the in store only points

42 and change "retail" walked out for under 6$

I'm picking up a Craftsman toolbox this week, 50% off, for $799. Probably more box than I need right now, but seems like a nice price.

I picked almost every Made in USA Hand tool from Craftsman in recent months. Just comes to show how quick they were to switch over to a different COO.

Received my SAE Sockets 3/8" and 1/2" today, all New Old Stock, Made in USA, shipped directly from Sears and also enclosed a parts list. Cost? $10, very pleased indeed. :)
