I can't speak to those ratchets. But, I do own a set of two Titan micro, gearless ratchets, 1/4 and 3/8. They look good, feel good, are smooth as silk, and tiny. I would buy another Titan product, for sure.

Are those the same as TOPTUL; or at least they are the OEM for Titan? They look pretty much identical!

I think there's only one tool company in Taiwan that cranks out ratchets for everyone from Mac to Toptul. I saw those ratchets at a Carquest tool expo recently. They didn't seem too bad. They're definitely long. However, it's the age old argument about not being able to warranty them easily when one fails. The price in your link is the cheapest I've seen the 3 piece set. It usually runs around $99.

I see those things on the parts counter at the auto parts stores. I do my best to keep plenty of distance between me and those inferior products ...... I don't want to accidently bump into one as I buying my air filter. Ewwuu!! :puke:

I saw them at local store also, for roughly $100.00 just happend to find the link to ebay item cheaper..... when I asked the guy at the parts counter about warrenty... he said lifetime... I was mostly liking the long flex handle..... but nervous about the brand(never owned anything Titan).... I am strongly considering them as I can buy them on account at the store....

thanks guys for the input

Does Titan have a web site of all their tools they sell? Google search just finds places selling the tools and not the manufacturer. Is Titan a Taiwan company?

What is their web site?

If I needed more ratchets, and I had the money, I would definitely be tempted to try out the Titan ratchets. I wouldn't expect top of the line quality, but I'm sure they'll work fine. Most of their stuff seems decent enough.

So, is the consensus that these are OEM rotar group ratchets?
http://www.toptul.com/

Ever wonder if Rotar gets their stuff from elsewhere? Not every factory makes their own stuff. A GJ member located in Taiwan has told me that they could be purchasing semi-finished ratchets elsewhere, then having them vibratory finished and assembled at Rotar. According to him, vibe finishing is Toptul's core competency.
Even CDI / Snap-on sources stuff from here:

The toptul Rathets are similr in over al appearance, however, the flex part is completly different... titans have a gear with a spring and ball to help hold the positions ... toptul was either indexed or full flex with no resistance

I would really like to see the pawls inside those Titan ratchets. The pawls inside my flex ratchet from Toptul look nothing like the ones offered by William Tool Co.

My father has at least one Titan. It is the style with two different sizes on it. They are decent, and better then the normal Craftsman ratchets, if you never clean/relube them.

Around here, I see them in one of my damaged freight stores for under $10. These wouldn't be my go to ratchet, BUT I would have no problem loaning one to friends.

How are the handles? I really wanted to get a set of hard handles or just a regular steel handle, but this will suffice.

Handles are comfortable, ratchets are smooth and tough. The price is deceiving, these are very good ratchets

They're a hard rubberized handle much the same as the blue Mastercraft screwdrivers of recent years. Very good grip but not squishy. I'd prefer a steel handle but at this price it"s easy to get past that.

Direction switch is nice and smooth.
36T gears are smooth
Head is serviceable
Detents for flex but non-locking. Nice for flexing during your sweep in an obstructed path.
Made in Taiwan
Lifetime warranty

Easy to miss on the shelf. Fairly large white box with a picture and says Titan but wasn't hanging with the rest of the ratchets. In the box is a black plastic tray for laying in you drawer all pretty like! LOL I tossed mine but I should have measured it... should fit into a 26" drawer.
I haven't put them to the test but I liked them enough to toss the packaging. A little long for a go-to ratchet but great deal for those times you need a long handle flex. At this price you don't feel guilty leaving it in the drawer.

I have owned this set for over a year and they have been good solid ratchets. I paid $90 for the set the latest sale price at Princess Auto is amazing. You cannot go wrong for that price

EDIT: Emailed Titan and asked for 72 teeth rebuild kits, the OEM of the ratchets has 72 teeth versions.

Yep, the regular ones are 72 teeth, some of the long handled ones are 36 teeth. Both are very smooth and will put up with a lot of hard use. I've worked as a mobile oilfield Millwright for a variety of companies and have had a chance to use a pretty good variety of tools, I cant speak for the rest of Titan's tools but the ratchets are about as good as any mid range offering that I've had a chance to use. WAY better than Westward, better than craftsman, AT LEAST as good as the better Jet stuff, and for a fraction of the price. I like my Gray's better but other than spending big bucks these are about the best option.

Yea, mine are the regular length with the rubber handles...and yes, they're 72t.

Success! Titan will be sending a few 72T rebuild kits shortly! I hope the regular length ratchets have identical guts to the long handle flex heads, will be going down to PA tomorrow!

For those commenting on the Titan 3 pc ratchet set, I picked up one today and I'm impressed. They seem to be well worth the money ... especially at the current sale price!

I was there today and seen a few sets but passed because they are 36 tooth.

Let us know if the 72T kit fits

If it does I might have to grab a set

Thanks

The way I see it, grab a set at the current pricing, then when I get the rebuild kits in and see that they don't fit, return it since PA has one of the best return policies anywhere (aside from Costco).

I picked up a set today at Princess. They had half a dozen left in Kelowna and it is a one time deal, as per the sales guy.

Keep us updated on the 72 tooth swap.

Thanks for the link to get these on the cheep guys I have the non flex set and they are tuff as hell lets me use a 3/8ths when I should be grabbing a 1/2 or an impact but I use the non flex head on something like tahoe caliper mounting bolts one of my co workers went at those bolts with his 3/8ths impact didn't budge the thing I threw the xtra 3/8ths up to the challenge had to throw my wieght into it but broke free no probs. The make some tuff stuff that will work for years there ratcheting wrenchs ive had for about 7 years and still are as smooth as the day I bought them. Good product at a great price dont hesitate get this set!

Bought the 1/4 and 1/2 long handle flex head 32 tooth at a swap meet for 10$ for the pair. I'd buy another set in a heartbeat
