Few days ago I received what I think are the best dang wire strippers I have ever owned: JOKARI automatic wire stripper, super 4 plus. Liked em so much I just bought another before posting this. It is a one size fit all no need to line up the wire with a sized die, the depth of the strip is adjustable, it has a cutter built in on top, and are light weight. I have tried other automatic wire strippers in the past and did not like any of em. All the ones I have tried were too dang big, bulky and heavy. Also I am left a handed and all I have tried are made for right handed folk and were a pain to use. I saw em at L.H. Dottie's booth at the Upper Midwest Electrical EXPO in Minneapolis, MN. So I shopped around for awhile and found a price I really liked: $21.30 +2.00 Shipping on eBay.

$25 sure is a good price considering the Knipex version is $41 and other than having red trim pieces looks identical to the Jokari.

Capri sells a very similar model, and they sell for $15 Prime shipped from Amazon.

I've used that style(not these particularly) in the past and found they really didn't work that well on a hard jacketed wire. They are really nice when working with paired or multiple wires like phone cable or speaker wire.

Ya what makes em great makes em **** on nylon jacketed insulation such as THHN. It strips the nylon well but leaves the main insulation so it takes two goes to strip THHN. I did not buy these for that kinda work. More for electronics, low voltage control panels, PC wire, automotive wiring, small stuff the average wire strippers **** at. They excel where there is a lot of wires to cut and strip and you want it all consistent. For Work I use the standard wire strippers with regular electrical work involving THHN and other types. I still consider these the best automatic wire strippers.

OP how are they holding up. Do you use your strippers daily in a work environment? I did some research and 20100 models have replaceable blades. I also found that FELO has a rebrand of yours in hi-viz red/yellow which I am probably going to buy only for the easy to find color. I was searching every where for my black IDEAL's last friday at work.

TOPTUL has one that looks identical. I use it and like it. I'm out of stock on it but what I like about it is that is strips from the front instead of from the side as do most wire strippers. Very handy in close quarters.

Have these ones. Very pleased. I am sure they are made by another manufacturer and rebranded Knipex. Can't remember the name. There was a thread on here somewhere.

I had one very similar loooong ago. Didn't take me long to chuck it in a deep corner of a drawer, never to see sunlight again. Just fustrating to use.

Where the others strip insulation on the ends of the wire, this one will strip insulation anywhere on the wire. Great for tapping into the middle of an existing wire

I have used the KNIPEX as shown above and an earlier version for many years.
Really good.
However, if you work in tight places with lots of wires it is best to tape off the cutter in order to not mistakenly cut a wire while you strip another.

I've bought 10 sets of these for the guys in our shop. They probably strip 150-400 times a day. So far everyone loves them, three months in and they are holding up well. At the price, if we get 9-12 months use I'd be happy.

Bear in mind we strip wire all day most days while building industrial control panels so our use is very heavy compared to most.

Where did you order the strippers from? No pun intended. What Ferrule crimpers tool do you guys use?

Thanks

Ordered them from KC Tool. We use Panduit crimpers for ferrules. They allow us to provide a UL approved crimp.

I have a Velleman ferrule crimper, so far it has held up quite well and does make a very nice crimp.

I have an old Radio Shack version of this type that comes in handy every so often.
