new garage build from the uk

so its time to build a new garage

we got our house about 3 years ago and has taken that long to sell the old house

this is the house as it stands

front

garage will be extended further back which we are converting to more living room and a bed room for my mum

back the conservatory will be removed and a proper extension built which will be a bedroom for my mum and a summer room next to it

and this will be where the new garage will go

garage will follow the boundary line so gets wider as it goes back

plans off the house now with out conservatory

and off what we are hoping to get passed

got to decide how big we want the new rooms and where we want doors and stuff before tomorrow night as the architect is coming round to discus the last bits

Looks like it'll be a good build. Any idea what sort of size it will end up? Have you had it passed by Planning? We're currently in the middle of planning/annoying our neighbors with our plans, its a nightmare!

its about 3.5 meteres at the front 11.5meters long gets wider as you go back think its just over 5 meters

plans go in on Wednesday

Neighbour Notifications Sent

also planning Officer came yesterday to put up the standerd notice and also had a quick look around and take a few pics

wasnt here so couldn't have a chat the Target date is 22/08/2016

Have you had a chat with your neighbours about the plans? I unfortunately didn't talk with everyone within the surrounding 20 miles, so we had 5 complaints, from 4 nearby people mainly complaining about the possibilities of our garage being a commercial operation (it 8x6m so quite large especially by UK standards). I'd definitely suggest chatting to them all. We've ended up having to change our plans and re submit. Another delay, compounded by the planner being on holiday.

I really liked that conservatory, though. It added charm to the back of the home.

Are you going to forego vehicle access to the back yard? Occasionally we will see a plan or a finished garage with a garage door in the back. Something to consider.

Today the builders put the footings down and the blocks/ bricks are coming tomorrow so its all go

Considering the plan shows a cavity wall the slab should pour up to the inside wall. We stuff cavities full of insulation generally now, but they used to be left open all the way up.

so yesterday half the slap got layed i wasnt here as i was on a trackday

but got some pics these 2 pics give a feel for the size builders van with trailer on

then he was back this morning to smooth it off
