At least around here (read: not California) O'Reilly's non-chlorinated is awesome.

Napa brake cleaner is anemic

This can be very true. Even though it's Brakleen brand it also has the Napa logo printed on it, so it's something they do special for Napa, at least in some instances. There are several variations though and I have yet to figure out which are good and which ****. The counter guys never seem to have any idea - they just think a red can is chlorinated and a green can is non-chlorinated. This is not even true. The red cans with some yellow printing or script are uber-weak non-chlorinated.

You choose O'Reilly's non-chlorinated over their chlorinated?

I'm about 99% sure the Brakleen at Napa is no different than the Brakleen anywhere else. I've never seen "Napa" on the can.

I just bought a case of chlorinated, and I have no worries that it is 100% exactly the same as anywhere else. Regardless of the logo, the formula is no different. :dunno:

Yeah, I'll take O'Reilly's non-chlor 'cause it cleans well and no concerns with welding. Their chlorinated sprays like ***. The only reason I'll buy chlorinated is for killing wasps or general cleaning of non-weldments in which case it has to spray straight and far (er for the former, not the latter). The chlorinated CRC fits the bill on that.

Searcing "Brakleen" at oreillyauto.com and napaonline.com:

Napa sells CRC part numbers:
5151, 91314, 91314CA, 95050, 91847 (there's generally a preceding 0 on each)
O'Reilly sells:
5050, 5054, 5084, 5088, 5089

Also if you call up some of the individual products on Napa's site you'll see the Napa logo printed right next to the CRC logo, but I'll try to get you a pic from the shop too.

Here's a can of 91314, even if it's upside down do you spy a Napa logo? edit: didn't load upside down fortunately

Here's a can of non-chlor 91847. Just treat it like a game of Where's Waldo - do you see a Napa logo?

This stuff *****, if you write on steel w a Sharpie or Markzall (common for welders), it can't remove it

Menards fellers... On sale nearly once a month for 2.49/can... The good chlorinated stuff. I usually pick up a case or two every time I see it on sale.

Technical question. I've been buying cases of brake cleaner when on sell because of convenience. Anyone have experience with purchasing 5 gal pales? I noticed it is way lower VOC but is probably because it is not in an aerosol. I have power shots that use compressed air. Guess my question is the effectiveness/strength of same brand in can versus bulk (powershot) use.
