As you know i bought an Eastwood Benchtop Blaster finally got around to taking it out of the box and assembling it.

I used Lexel Clear to seal ALL seams & Holes. Want to make sure that it will not leak and blow media everywhere.

Here is a direct link to my library and tons of pictures from the assembly... you can read and follow below or just scan through the pictures.

Install the Vent or Vacuum Port, depending on method. I am using my shop vac, so i put in the port.

have to remove the diverted on the inside in order to install the tube, instructions do NOT tell you this. I had to figure that one out.

Install the light in the clips... they provide some zip ties to secure it in.

Once the Lexel dries, i can install the grate, and then connect the suction line from the media feed to the gun and secure it all.

Was not that bad to assemble, I took my time, and read instructions, dry fitted each part then sealed the seams and secured together.

Nice looking little machine

okay, i have learned something new again!

you installed the Vac Suction in place of the Air inlet to the Cabinet after removing the diversion port?

as opposed to the "Filtered" Vac Port?

i have assembled these small bench-top units a time or two and cant recall any of the various distributors instructions as instructing this method.

as i see it, you now have the Shop Vac pulling all of media Straight into the vac container.
the Filter unit is installed backwards to pull in the Equalizing air to replace what the Shop Vac is pulling.

the metal frame work for that Filter is to prevent the Filter media from collapsing under negative pressures. the White Foam Sleeve is to be used to collect the finer Blast Media.
**** then again maybe you found an answer to a Question i have never thought.

You had me looking back though the book, and I did build it per instructions, but now I am wondering.

i would think you **** air in through the small air filter disc that mount on the back, then through the foam filter to collect small debris, then through the paper element to collect the rest. then to the vacuum...

as of now it would **** air through the paper filter, then straight into the covered area into the elbow to the vacuum. though it is NOT a direct path because of the cover over the port it would still provide free un restricted suction to pull any and all debris into the vacuum !!

I am using a dust deputy once i get it all set up.

This looks like how it SHOULD be set up to work...

**** in from the vacuum tube, and pull air through the air filter, via the outside from the back corner

thats an alternative. **** truth be told i looked around last night for some you tube vids and even saw one from Eastwood that shows the install as you had it.
many others have other setups that contradict the Eastwood setup.

regardless, some things i have come to know from working in industry/Navy ships as a Boiler Repair Tech/Power Plant Mechanic.
the Conical Filter is made to have the metal Frame work support the media filter and the The low pressure/Vacuum would Pull the Blast Debris across the Finer Sponge Filter then the Paper element.
the Other Little Metal Frame is oriented to allow Pressure to Blow outwards. Again, the Debris would be Pushed out towards the Replaceable media element and the Metal is the Support to hold. additionally, the Baffle is to help Prevent the Larger Debris from going into the element and fall back to the reservoir.
Im not gonna Say Yours is incorrect **** its different than anything i have seen or used. it may work exceptionally well.

another thing to think about. these Benchtop units also have the ability to work without a Vacuum to pull a negative draft to remove the Floating Debris/Spent Media.
so i think the designers made them to allow either way to meet many criteria among Consumers.
Best Way to find out is to put it to test!
and that Cyclone separator is a great idea. it will save the Vacuum

Yeah need to get some media and test it out, see which method works the best.
swapping the parts only takes about 5-10 minutes.

I like the scothbrite idea, and can also by the air filter media in squares as well then cut and fit.

got to get a bucket and build my dust deputy set up, plus get another hose to run from cabinet to the deputy. plan to leave the deputy connected to the container at all times, and then just connect vacuum to deputy when using the cabinet.

Two things from having both that benchtop china cabinet and the big one - the sealing works, sorta. Expect debris and always-always wear a mask. And you can throw that light away now, or shortly but it won't last long and you can't see much even with it working. I'm looking for a long LED strip to use in mine, currently using a LED trouble light.

And that hose will kink easily - there needs to be a 45 of some kind on the end of the media feed tube.

Also, I do not use my shop vac on my big one - why tear up a prefetly good shop vac. I got a $20 portable from Target and hung on the machine. It works great, will **** the gloves off the mounts. Also makes it easy to dump the media back into the box.

I sold the bench top unit at a swap meet for $40, way too small for anything I do here.

Thanks, that looks great... I am also putting in a Dust Deputy to help save my cheap Vacuum. mounting it on a bucket under my blaster. Just connect my Vacuum to that when using it. I will be wearing Safety goggles and respirator.

I also am looking for a NICE LED light to use, or at least maybe some LED Stripping i can put in there t o REALLY see what i am doing.

Is this now the vent to the atmosphere? If so, stuff a piece of sponge in there to help stop **** escaping (even with that small white round doodad). Air moves both ways through that vent. When the vac is running but the trigger isn't pulled it will vent into the cabinet, but with the trigger pulled it will vent in the opposite direction into your shop.

THAT IS The Air vent when you are NOT using a Vacuum. to let the pressure out from using the gun. Air Intake is the Conical Filter

just an update...

broke down and ordered some LED Strips today

bought the six pack, figure start with two on the top by the glass, then can try one or two in the corners facing out, not towards the glass !!

should be here next week, got to built my dust collection system first, as well as get me some media. going to use some glass bead for now. that is a good general purpose media I like to use for parts on my Antique Car.

worst case they do not do anything good, did not really loose anything, $10 investment in an R&D Project :)

Wired up a set (2) and then powered them up to see if they work and if so HOW bright they are:
