Anyone else have Pelican/Storm/Hardigg cases for their tools?

Pile of our Pelican's after air freight back from a job in Alaska:

love the pelican cases, One of my drivers just found one at a 2nd hand store and gave it to me. (He asked if I knew any one who would like a pelican case, I couldn't get it out fast enough that I wanted it. He got it for 4 dollars. I told him I would take all that he found at that price.

Are you a 653? I'm guessing more than that. You've set the bar pretty high for tool organization. I would have gotten to that point had I stayed in the biz. 510/570 here.

some people want the cases to look good, others just slap shipping labels and a padlock and ship that way. I've got a pelican 1510 as my rollaround/tuning case. With the 1514 dividers as shown below.

I also have a S130 backpack to carry my laptop.

A 1520 as a second travel case. I will need to get pics of my actual gear tomorrow at work. I love the backpack, it allows me to have the confidence of a panasonic toughbook when traveling but carrying a very thin dell XPS laptop with far more performance the than toughbook line offers at any price.

I suppose it depends on your definition of "tools", but they are in a Pelican case.

Maybe the wrong place to ask, but does anyone make a decent copy of a Pelican case? I'm looking for waterproof storage, don't need the foam or the ability for it to withstand dropping from an airplane. I've got two Pelican cases and two coolers, quality is awesome.

I looked at them while warranting a dead blow hammer, in my book their garbage.. but I own the real thing so I took noticed of a ton of the differences... They are a cheap feeling “rough a round the edges”. With much thinner plastic it seems as though they added all sort of reinforcements ribs to the case to try and over come flex in it, but that didn't make it much better. The o-rings are smaller and the groove where they sit was not molded cleanly. The latches are the most obvious flaw way to flimsy for repeated use. They also only rate the cases to ip65 unlike the pelican which is ip67.

When you get to thinking the HF looks like a great deal. If you want the Pelican look without the protection or the price of the real thing....

Maybe for someone that’s a cool factor, but to me the main reason I buy the pelican stuff is well how it takes the abuse and use and never quits... and how the company stands behind there product.

Nice!

Historically, I used to think of Rugers as being a little ‘agricultural’, and their early pistols had all the aesthetics of a bears ****!

Those however, look really nice!

I’m a Pelican case lover too, but they’re too costly for some applications!

Just lately I’ve had the same query.

Ended up with some ‘Keter’ boxes from U.K. Amazon.

Not Pelican quality, but not Pelican price either, and Made in Germany so perfectly acceptable! They make really good tool cases.

These pics are from Amazon.

Price was about $40, and that includes the internal fittings as shown!

They are called a ‘Keter Technicians Tool Box’ should you want to search, and the part number is 221474.

Personally I just buy used pelicans off of eBay. With a bit of searching Ive bought 5 in total this way. the most recent two 1610 case in good working condition for 40.00 each... with free shipping. unless I’m using them for a specific purpose that required new...

There are few better deals out then used pelican in the storage world. They are the “snap on” of their industry. It’s not that others don’t make good cases as seen above, but pelican has the masssive market share which increased with their Acquiring of the Hardigg brand... one of their close competitors. The competition that’s left is not a big threat to them.

Yeah well, thanks to Garage Journal, I just bought two used Pelican cases off of Ebay! Just a little more than the cheaper ones can score you a case to last a lifetime.

What is the best way to secure a Pelican case in the bed of a truck? Is there something better than a bicycle type cable lock?
