Okay, needed to stop by a local "antique" store...99 percent not interesting. I spy this thing. I am building a new "vintage industrial workshop" at my place and I like older stuff. I like the condition of this. Is the price fair? It includes all the tool inside for $239. The bottom space include a bunch of plumbing wrenches and other bits. Most of the tools are Craftsman. It looks like a fair amount of tools in it. Your thoughts?

Thanks,
Mike

If the box works into your theme then ya a couple hundred seems plenty fair. The tools are a whatever but at least you'll have a lifetime supply of adjustables. :p

I can spy a number of craftmen wrenches in there that all say made in usa. That sells it for me I just love old quality tools. I thought that price was for the box alone even then I didnt think that was too bad. You should go on craigslist and see some of the used snap on boxes out there, nothing under 500, usually more around 2k for just the box. I think if you were patient you could probably make your money back selling the tools individually. Because I love a good deal, I'd go in there and talk them up about the box and send an offer of 200 for everything and see what happens. Good luck

I would have already bought it, the asking price is reasonable. Be too cheap, and it will immediately go to someone else.

I paid the price and am real happy I did. Turns out it could be a 1945 Model K-77-W from what I can tell. I had one drawer that wouldn't fully close. I took out that drawer to find more tools and a page out of a newspaper from 1962!

In these photos I have the one drawer out and the lower panel removed. I do not have the locking bar for it.

I love this kind of sh$t.

Here are most of the tools that came with it - nothing stellar, but some nice Craftsman stuff in there (oh, and the brown leather pouch is a vintage looking Greenlee punch set):

There were some small sockets in the Plomb box...newer ones.
It is not original paint - looks to be newer red over original red.
I think there were 3 or 4 Diamond Calk Horseshoe company crescent wrenches too.

Pure luck.

Depends on how you look at it. As a usable tool box, there are far better buys for the money. For a collectable item, especially if you wanted that particular one, then sure.

The location remains a secret as I scout for more...

It is a usable box for sure. The drawers still slide nice and the casters work great. I was drawn to it by it's scars. It will go perfect in my motorcycle garage. The right amount of tools will fit in it.

I picked up some nice tools in the process as well. More plumber's wrenches than I will ever need, but do you ever have enough open end wrenches or sockets...

My garage is going vintage industrial, so most things visible will be reclaimed, reused or repurposed. This will fit in nicely.
